I am a typical 30-something: I have an education, I own a car, I have 2 cats and 2 dogs who I adore, I love to travel, I enjoy the freedom of being young. I am determined, self-assured, strong, successful, intelligent and ambitious. I have my entire life ahead of me to do whatever I want, however I want. I just described thousands of people. What sets me apart from everyone else?
I have rheumatoid arthritis.
This blog focuses on my beauty hobby. I incorporate RA, nail art and beauty blogging as a creative outlet. But, everyone does that!”, you may say. True, but not many focus their energy on arthritis friendly nail art designs and techniques.
As a autoimmune patient, I struggle with endless fatigue, pain and stiffness. These all affect my ability to paint my nails, put on makeup, and go through my ambitious skincare routine. Over the course of the past ten years (since my diagnosis) I streamlined my hobby. I know the best materials and techniques to use, short cuts and tips to incorporating beauty into my life.
Aside from beauty, I love rock-climbing (when I can), animals (I am a pre-veterinary medicine student!) and reading. Intermittently, these will pop up in my blog whenever I feel like writing about them!

Darling, I am so glad I have found your blog! Let me say that your nail designs are stunning. Yes, they are! Sorry to hear you have rheumatoid arthritis. 😦 I have Celiac Disease and a few related auto-immune disorders and plenty of allergies, so I know what it feels like to have a condition that you can’t do anything about, something that flares up suddenly, something that you cannot influence in any way – apart from taking pred or ciclosporine or… whatever your rheumy prescribes.

I quite agree with you on every point. I just got my diagnosis this past week. Now I have to use an anti-inflammatory cream that I am worried I won’t have enough of until the end of the month. So I endure the should pain, while I am typing. She does have such beautiful nail art, doesn’t she. I sent a few of them to my Pinterest site where I can go by and have everyone see what I discovered.

Susan!! Thank you so much for the kind words! I have actually found that sometimes if I lay completely flat on the floor (no pillow under my neck etc), arms by my side, fingers relaxed and meditate, some of the pain and stiffness goes. I breathe in for 5 counts, exhale for 5 and just imagine all the energy in the body seeping down into the floor away from my joints.
It took me a little to get used to it but it does help me a lot!

Thank you so much! It helps me feel less alone, knowing that others still struggle to control their auto-immunities as well! I am sorry that you experience flares though!
I just took a look at your blog! It is great, I look forward to following you!
