What are you grateful for this week?

Satisfied Sunday Gratitude Blog Post | Monica with RA Rheumatoid Arthritis Chronic Illness Blogger

Me? Sunsilk is still alive. I took her to the vets soon after Marmalade passed away because I noticed symptoms I didn’t notice when both cats were alive (they shared resources so it was sometimes hard to see pet-specific issues). I found out that Sunsilk’s heart and kidneys were deteriorating very quickly and the vet anticipated that she wouldn’t last six months. Well, we’re there and Sunsilk is still here.

I, of course, could be writing a “RIP” at the end of this week, we don’t know. But, as of RIGHT NOW, Sunsilk is still alive and kicking…literally.

Me? While the pandemic has changed our entire trajectory as a species, it made it so I can return to school a little earlier than anticipated. Given my immuno-compromised state, I can take my classes safely from home (which is not in the same state as my school). I planned to return in a year or so. My father and I began discussing the logistics of moving, what would we do with the pets, etc. but now, we have a little more time to figure it all out!…and I can start school!

Sunsilk is stable and her appetite is increasing. She has not gained any weight but she is more alert and active!

What are you grateful for this week? Let me know in the comments!

Me? I have been very badly flared up over the last two weeks. I am finally coming out of it! I don’t hurt nearly as much. I still can’t walk Affie an hour every day but I am thankful that I have a large yard I can run the dogs through when I feel low.

Sunsilk Sengupta Gratitude Satisified Sunday | Monica with RA blog Chronic Illness Rheumatoid Arthritis Grateful and Love

There is a lot going on and with the discussion of privilege so prevalent in our society, it feels awkward to talk about the good things happening in our lives. But, I think it is important to acknowledge that good things are happening and we are grateful for what we have.

This week I am grateful that Sunsilk (and Affie) are still alive and healthy. They are both quite old. Sunsilk is 17 and Affie is nearly 15. I don’t know how much longer I have with them so I am making the most of the time I have left.

What are you grateful for this week? Let me know in the comments. 🙂

And, for day four, the thing that made me smile:

gratitude november calendar 2019
SANTA CAME TO MY HOUSE! Every year the local fire department decks out one of their trucks and Santa sits on top while it drives around the surrounding neighborhoods. I live on a closed street so the truck rarely (as in they’ve never been to this street as long as I’ve lived here) comes down it. This year, they did!!

It was one of my favorite Christmas traditions with my mom. We would run down to the end of the driveway and wave to Santa.

This year’s visit made this holiday season!

gray bridge and treesI am currently re-reading Rebecca by Daphne Du Maurier which I haven’t read since 5th grade.
I am grateful for an education that made me read these kinds of novels when I was 11 years old.
