We’re in the final stretch of the challenge – the inspiration days — and my Rheumatoid Arthritis is flaring so I’m a hot shaky mess. I decided to give my poor arthritic fingers a rest and relied heavily on water decals for this look.

I don’t know why but I’ve really been feeling browns and nudes this month. I don’t usually use them except to highlight colors so maybe I just feel like giving those generally unused polishes a little love!

I hope you like this look…I think I paired the colors well.

It’s been a bit of a day so I’m running behind with my blog post. Thankfully, I’m still up to date on the nails! This morning Affie’s (my 12 year old Coton) heart rate started to race. Thankfully, there were no other abnormalities but given that she has a Level 4 heart murmur we took her to emergency. We monitored her for a few hours and her heart rate returned to normal but we need to see a cardiologist soon. Her heart rate has flucutated in the past but never for this long!

When we got home, I took her upstairs for breakfast and I tripped on the stairs! I fell on my osteopenia-ridden hip. Hard. It hurt. A lot. Thankfully, I saved Affie and she landed on the main floor!

Needless to say, it’s been a day!

Now, on to the watermarble. I am really loving my OPI Washington DC collection from last Fall. I was all over it because I am from Washington DC so maybe I feel a special connection to this OPI color collection. Plus, they marble great.

Unfortunately, because of my arthritis I’m one hot shaky mess and was not able to photograph the look well. I still think the final look came out well! I’m happy with my watermarble for today’s 31 Day nail art challenge!

Well, it happened….The 31 Day Nail Art challenge finally affected my Rheumatoid Arthritis. My back left, my fingers swelled and caused massive shakes. Apologies in advance for not so ideal photos — my arm just couldn’t handle holding the camera…

Galaxy nail art is super easy. I love how easy it is. I sponge different colors in swirly Milky Way patterns, add a few dots and voila! A very stunning, looks-like-it-took-years- but-only-a-few-seconds nail art. Yes, I did make that a sentence.

If you look at the 31 Day Nail Art challenge tab on my main page you’ll see I never ever do the half-moon prompt. I just don’t like how it looks and it kind of confuses me. This year, I racked my brains for an idea and when none came I decided on a recreation from a previous year. Until, it dawned on me. Why don’t I dot the half-moon? After all, I love me a good dotticure!

Needless to say, I did end up loving this look. I think the dots make the half-moon look less obvious. What do you think??

Every nail artist has at least one glitter nail polish in his or her stash. It’s just not possible to not have it. I have multiple, mostly from old brands that no longer exist so the glitter base has dried out and they are unusable. I miss the old Milani and Sephora by OPI but I hold on to the bottles just in case one day…these brands return! They probably won’t but I can dream, right??

Speaking of, I used one of those old SOPI polishes in today’s look. A simple glitter gradient that reminds me of all the blood that leaves my body through draws, diagnostics and IVs. How lovely!

Glitter gradients are one of the most arthritis friendly nail art techniques. You can either apply glitter directly with the nail polish brush or, for more exact placement you can use a large soft makeup wedge sponge. If your arthritis is under control you can even use a foam tip eye shadow applicator for even more precision!

I was inspired by a polka dot look @coewlesspolish made for the 31 Day Nail Art Challenge. She has beautifully shaped nails and equally wonderful designs. I knew I had to re-create her delicate dotted nail art but couldn’t wait until the end of the month!

The last couple of days were hard for me as I didn’t particularly like the nail art I put together so I am doubly thrilled with today’s dotticure. I hope you like it too!
