Born Pretty Store Watercolor Floral Decals product ID 30401

I’ve often said water decals are the easiet way to get fun, cute nail art without the work.  This sentiment goes for anyone really but especially those of us with Rheumatoid Arthritis. We just don’t have the pain tolerance or downright dexterity to create tiny masterpieces on our nails (not that I have the patience to that to begin with).

 

I get most of my water decals from Born Pretty Store because they are cheap and good quality. These floral numbers were more delicate than usual but I’m not sure if that was the design or decal, itself.

The colors are pastel and subtle (aka the watercolor effect) so I think the flowers would look best against a white or off-white base.

I added mine on top of a smooshy yellow base and they are kind of hard to see. Cool kind of effect, though, so I hope you enjoy them!

I went with a simple and subtle dotticure for the 31 Nail Art Challenge just because I’ve gone heavy on the dots all month. I kind of like it but let me be honest, sometimes it’s hard to incorporate them! Today, however, was not one of those days as “dots” was right in the title!

I hope you like the color scheme — I’m kind of digging it myself 🙂

Whenever I sit down to do my nails I think…’Sure, I could do a watermarble…’ but, I never do. I look back on the last year and realize the last time I did a marble was, in fact, September 20, 2017. Apparently, water marbling is strictly an annual thing for me.

Though I don’t have a lot of practice with it, I have to admit I adore how these came out and of course, I included the dots!

I’m not sure how I feel about this look. I like all three polishes separately but I’m not sure they work well together. People over on Instagram seem to really like it so I guess it’s a win!

Isolation is the Key to Destruction

I’ve always been a bit of a loner. I prefer to stay on my own than go out with a group of people. So, when I was diagnosed with RA I wasn’t surprised I isolated myself even further.

Pride and embarrasment fueled this transition and I found myself pushing everyone away. I have always done this when I find myself weak: weak mentally and now, weak physically. I didn’t want people to see me in a state of pain, disability and sadness. But, friendship is a two way street and I would frequently counter the generic “oh wow, I haven’t heard from you in a while” with a “you could have reached out to me”. You know what my “friends” said?

“Out of sight, out of mind.”

Who can blame them. I hibernate and shy away from the world so how can I expect anyone to care enough to check in on me. There’s more to this, though. Most people find my RA a burden. I’m not sure why when they don’t have to live with this disabiling, disfiguring illness every second of every day. But, because humans are inately selfish, they believe that my illness affects them in some way.

I have never asked my friends for help or accomodations so I don’t know where this annoyance comes from. I know how to take care of myself and I know how to handle situations on my own so…

Why do people get annoyed with me for something I can’t control and that I don’t make anyone else’s problem?

 

Constant isolation destroys the human psyche. We are social animals who crave attention but honestly, I’ve only experienced negative feelings towards me so I continue to be on my own even though I know it will eventually lead to my own distruction.
