As many may know, I detest Halloween. As a kid I had a very vivid imagination so anything spooky came to serious life for me. I don’t like dressing up for Halloween, I don’t like haunted houses, I don’t like scary movies. The only thing I enjoy is the large assorted bags of candy. (Want to hear a secret? I’m still eating Halloween candy from last year!)
Regardless of my personal feelings on Halloween, I kind of love the color scheme so I participate in some abstract style “Halloween” nail art. I have to say, my most recent one came out PERFECTLY. It took a bit of time to photograph because neons are notoriously difficult to capture and I still had to color correct my skin a little. Even though it has a bit of a green-ish hue to it, the polish colors are accurate (which is an accomplishment all on its own!)
What do you think? Do you like them as much as I do?? Let me know in the comments!

I love painting my nails and doing nail art but sitting down and doing them has been like pulling teeth during this pandemic. I think the reluctance comes from how much I wash my hands right now. I already do a lot of that because of the pets but now it’s twice or three times as much and nail polish does not stand a chance.
I change my nails often but I do want wear them for at least a couple of days. LOL.
That being said, sometimes, the call for nail art is just too strong and I have to give in. I had an overwhelming urge to do a sugar-spin (which I do have to take off immediately because it takes too long to dry). ‘Why do you do it then, Monica??’ You may ask. Well, there is something really soothing about this technique for me. It’s my favorite. But, let me say in no uncertain terms. It is NOT an arthritis-friendly technique. Let me repeat, this technique is not arthritis-friendly. As much as I would love to do it all the time, my poor swollen, rheumatoid arthritis-ridden fingers can’t manage it.

It’s been a while since I last did this kind of nail art but I am thrilled with the result. It looks like a delectable red velvet cupcake with frosting and sprinkles! What do you think? Do you like it?

Nail Art, rheumatoid arthritis

Nothing to disclose.

I went to Colorado State University for my undergraduate degree and had to divert any dreams of continuing to vet school when I was diagnosed with Rheumatoid Disease. My dream is to become a veterinarian and not pursing it is absolutely heart-breaking.

At the beginning of each semester, I see the fun, excited posts from the CSU and CSU vet school Instagram accounts awaiting new students, returners and excited DVM pursuers. These posts remind me I am not one of them and I don’t know if I ever will be again.

I miss college, I miss Fort Collins, I miss CSU. Every August, I feel blue because I am not getting ready for a new semester with my fellow Rammies.

…And time for the obligatory glitter, firework or drinking nails posts! I didn’t do that many just because it I’m not really into the New Year, New…Whatevers.

My Rheumatoid Disease has been flaring up and down since the beginning of December. We’ve had some really harsh temperature fluctations for weeks and my condition is no fan.

Glitter nails are completely festive and totally arthritis-friendly. Win, win, and just for luck, WIN! I hope you like this simple yet snazzy nail art look! LMK in the comments!

I have so many flower stamp designs from multiple brands but I always gravitate towards the lone one from Bundle Monster. This year, I made a conscious decision to use the other multiple flower patterns collecting dust in their protective sleeves.

I always wanted to try a flower on vine type look. Did I pull it off? I have mixed feelings about the final product. What do you think?

It’s been ages since I last did a dry brush/watercolor nail art look. Dry brush is super arthritis friendly nail art technique and does not require materials other than your nails and polishes and nail polish remover.

My primary school colors were purple and gold, a very odd color combination that I disliked immensely all my years at school. Now, I match this unlikely pairing without a second thought. In fact, I did the same thing last year!

I hope you like this look! Don’t forget to check out the Inlinkz below and the social media tag: #31DC2017.

The 31 Day Global Nail Art Challenge (September 2017 – #31DC2017) Blue Water Decal Nail Art

It took me two days to come up with a design for today’s prompt and after all that thinking I settled on full nail water decals. I kept coming up short as I tried different color combinations…Until I realized I did not have any light blue polishes??? The actual what?? Ah well, that just means I get to do some shopping, right?? **By the way, I am sorry, I didn’t realize these water decals were no longer available!**

Today’s nail art represents my monthly inter-venous Orencia infusion. Orencia is a strong immuno-suppresant that suppresses part of the immune system. This ensures it doesn’t attack the cartilage around my joints. This medication is the most effective for me, even if it cuts out a week early and I spend the last seven days of the cycle fatigued and in bed.

Check out the Inlinkz below and use the social media hashtag #31DC2017 if you participate in this month’s nail art challenge.
