This week I am grateful for…

…sleeping in! I slept until 1pm yesterday and my body felt so energized when I woke up. I don’t know why I needed so much sleep since I’m not in flare but I did, apparently!

This week I am thankful that…

Nothing too disastrous happened during Windmeggedon (I live in the Northeast)!

I am also thankful that Affie’s anti-inflammatory medications decreased her heart swelling.

Feeling Unmotivated…

productivity

So, you may have seen on social media recently (by “recently” I mean last month) that I came down with a horrible stomach bug. I vomited for six hours straight and don’t remember most of it because I was so dehydrated. I spent a week trying to get my body back on track but even now, four weeks on, I still crave water with electrolytes.

a8a6dd53d8e5f646_StockSnap_6BO8QPKBLDAfter I got better, I was continuously bombarded with bacteria. My students were constantly sick and I just couldn’t kick the cycle. Thankfully, though, I never got the flu!

Eventually, I resorted to wearing a mask everywhere and got better. But, now, I’ve lost all motivation to do anything related to my Instagram, Twitter, blog and YouTube. I have all these ideas floating around in my head but I cannot bring myself to do any of them.

I wasn’t particularly productive on many of my platforms (Twitter and YouTube especially) but over the few weeks I was sick I completely lost it!

Do you deal with this? How do you get out of the slump??

Saachi the Bullmastiff and Affie the Coton Taking A NapI can’t even bring myself to read other people’s posts or scroll through Instagram anymore. I want to. I just can’t!

Is it because I just don’t have the drive anymore? The productive muscle has gone soft? Or am I afraid of seeing the massive amount of unread or unseen posts piling up higher and higher every day? Am I just still not feeling well — I am so tired all the time (more so than usual). Maybe it’s a little bit of everything.

I really hope to be back at it soon! Please let me know if you have any tips because I just can’t get myself out of this slump!

Not all nail art needs to be intricate and time-consuming. If you have a chronic illness, or Rheumatoid Arthritis, like me, detailed, precise work is your worst nightmare. Add in a small canvas and it might make you weep!

Well, apparently, Valentine’s Day is not supposed to make you cry but make you happy and giddy and…stuff? So, I present a super fun, easy and arthritis-friendly nail art. It’s pink and red and screams Valentine without the fuss.

Enjoy!

It’s Sweater Weather!!… || from Anthropologie

Nothing to disclose.

…and time for me to drool over some from Anthropologie. It’s funny. For the longest time, I was never drawn to their style. Then, one day, in high school, I just felt in love and have been obsessed with the store ever since.

I love sweaters and wear them all the time year round. I have low blood pressure and circulation meaning I get chills all the time. So, even when it’s a billion degrees outside and the humidity is through the roof, I still wear sweaters.

I especially grativate towards a slouchy slightly larger style just because it’s easy Rheumatoid Arthritis fashion. It doesn’t mess with my arthritis, keeps me warm and looks cute!

Anthropologie has some cute pieces right now — some on sale — that I have my eye on. Check out my picks below and don’t forget to…

61b8f8b740b520f3184a0bc31cdb7b72I have a soft spot for yellow sweaters and this Oversize Cozy Pullover is no exception. It just looks so cozy and the color punches out my bleary winter blues! If yellow is not your scene, it comes in some other fun colors, too!

3b304bc8ad3de22dc22dfe49c0688c91I always wanted to be a blazer girl but given my short (read: petite) stature every jacket needed tailoring. Given my line of work (wearing scrubs all the time) I couldn’t justify the extra cost of buying them.

What I like about this Harvest Intarsia Blazer is while it is slightly fitted, it is soft and wears more like a cardigan!

39c224a32529e7687e8c21d013083187.jpgSome days you need a basic sweater and this Colorblock Crew Neck Pullover fits the bill. The neutral colors make it a staple in any cozy weather look.

4113529102547_035_b.jpgI definitely wear more yellow during the winter and this mustard Donyale Chenille Cardigan just speaks to me. This is similar to the first sweater except it’s an open cardigan. It’s easy to put on (no buttons, clasps or intricate details to aggravate my arthritis) so it’s perfect for that warm night in.

What do you think of these? Are they your style? LMK in the comments!

…that even though I am still pretty seriously ill, I did not have to go to the emergency room.

(fingers still crossed though)

Healthy Hearts are Always in Style || Nail Art

I joined a lovely collaboration over on Instagram for National Wear Red Day which is always the first Friday of February (hello alliteration!). It raises awareness for heart health specifically in women but the day is nestled right into Heart Health Month.

I, along with a lot of other nail artists, went red for this collaboration. You can check out the full collage over on my IG (linked here).

I am quite lucky that my Rheumatoid Arthritis has yet to affect my heart and in general, due mainly to genetics, I have a very healthy one! However, I remind myself daily my heart is one of the most important organs in my body and I have to make a conscious effort to protect it.

I hope you like this super low-key, arthritis-friendly glitter look. It’s kind of fun, cute and glitzy.
