31DC2016 – Coloring Flowers | Nails

A little while ago, I tried my hand at coloring water decals (check it out here). It was so much fun I tried it again for the 31-Day Challenge flower prompt. I blended and mixed acrylic paints and love the final result.

I hope you do too!

Get Ready for Fall – Home Decor from Target

It’s fall and I’m welcoming it with open arms and wallets. The leaves change colors and the temperatures cool which means one thing: my arthritis flares up. I am going to spend a whole lot of time in the house staring at my home decoration. It better reflect the beautiful weather outside!

I already placed a huge order from Pier 1 Imports which, if you are not familiar, has some cute but pricey seasonal items. But, it’s not enough. I want to decorate the entire house because I won’t be spending it all in bed, in my room (that’s what winter is for, right??).

If I want to go overboard and adorn mi casa I have to do so without breaking the bank. Cue Target. I never give Target the fair chance I should because there is no convenient physical store near me and I love shopping in store for seasonal decoration (it puts me even more in the mood). Yesterday, I perused the website and I actually came across a few items I loved. Do these items speak to you too? Good, because they’re not that expensive and are quick simple ways to update your home.

throws Blankets, throws, table runners and linens are the quickest and easiest way to inject fall palettes into your home! My personal favorites: plaid everything, the sequined leaf runner and matching napkins!

Oh.Em.Gee.

I started these nails but as I finished them I realized I strongly disliked them. The green barely showed up and the blues didn’t match. It just didn’t look like the product I pictured in my head. I strongly considered scratching the whole project and not posting them to Instagram.

Of course, in the spirit of the 31-Day Challenge, there is no time to re-do looks and I kind of had to deal, so sorry, Instagram…you’re gonna have to deal too.

….

Fast forward to now.

This is my 3rd most liked look EVER on my IG! It accumulated over 100 likes! What…just what?! I mean, I am thrilled but I cannot believe that a look I disliked so much got so much love!!

I am honored and humbled that so many people liked this look. I hope you do too!

31DC2016 – Polka Dots | Nails

Asymmetrical dotticures are one of my all time favorite techniques and make an appearance on the blog and Instagram weekly. However, I always lean towards the same color combinations (namely purples and greens). For today’s polka dot prompt I pushed myself to try something new and guess, what?…I love it!

31DC2016 – Beach Themed Gradient | Nails

I combined a couple of different prompts and created a twilight beach themed gradient. I generally opt for two color gradients but tried my hand at three. My nails are too short to evenly display all three colors but I think the asymmetry adds to the twilight effect nicely.

You’ve probably noticed the lack of traditional rainbows on my nails. I have nothing against the original spectrum of colors. I just don’t think true R-O-Y-G-B-I-V go together particularly well.

rainbow3So, whenever there are rainbow prompts, I just choose another set of multi-colors. And what do I love more than neon?? Nothing!

I hope you like this super simple nail art look! I certainly do!
