If you don’t use it, you lose it! What am I talking about? Stamping, of course! I had a time getting my stamp on today but I practiced and practiced because I haven’t done any recently.

Today was a Pahlish type of day. It is one of my favorite indie brands. The formula is awesome, the colors are unique and they look awesome together. I think it has something to do with the shimmer than runs through them!

I had this glorious look in mind for today’s nail art, I practiced it on paper but when I transferred the design to my nails it looked wrong. I was so disappointed. Then my dog smeared poop all over her butt and I had to shave her and then I lost all interest in my nails.

Unfortunately, I heard some really bad news today that put me in the worst mood ever and I couldn’t bring myself to try anything that required any sort of work. Thankfully I have a hoard of flower water decals I could fall back on.

I decided on a nice Zoya polish as my base (which also serves for purple day with 30 Days of Colour) and voila! I hope you like the simple look!

#31DC2015 – Tortoiseshell Cat Animal Print Nails

You can probably tell I am not one for animal prints. They are just not my cup of tea. I only ever attempt them for challenges (primarily the 31-Day Challenge). In 2013, I painted White Bengal Tiger stripes which came out quite nicely and in 2014, I bit the bullet and attempted a colorful leopard print. I did not want to do designs from previous years but since animal prints do not inspire me, I was at a loss.

I flipped through my archives and came across a NAIL art I did of Sunsilk (linked here)! This was one of my first nail arts and I was really happy with it. Fast forward two years (almost exactly!) to see whether a little more experience under my belt makes any difference!

 

sunsilk tortieSunsilk is part Abyssinian with tortoiseshell markings. She used to have very prominent features but her undercoat lightened with age so it’s harder to see the telltale tortie spots.

It wouldn’t be me if the look wasn’t more abstract. I went with simple “fur” nails and I have to say I love how these came out! I hope you do too!

This design was inspired by yet another one of Robin Moses’ nail videos (linked here)! I’ve been trying out her techniques and have to say they make my nail art life a whole lot easier!

My forte is definitely abstract so I decided to go with a “marble without water” look. Yes, anything to avoid that dratted striping tape!

I hope you like it..I have to say this came out quite nicely! Below is a quick photo of the base color — which I gushed about on Instagram and serves as my pink for the 30 Days of Colour Challenge!

I redeemed my pseudo-photography skills from yesterday’s neon debacle and did another gradient today. Nothing goes better with polka dots than gradients…and maybe water marbles but everyone had the same idea so I went with the gradient instead. If you don’t know what I mean check out the Instagram hashtag 31DC2015 – beautiful water marbles and dots galore…none of which I can hold a torch to. I didn’t want my measly marble getting lost in the shuffle!

This gradient-dot combo came out exactly the way I wanted and the dots are almost identical on each nail! Progress! I hope you like it as much as I do!

#31DC2015 – Neon Gradient Nails

I have never ever had so much trouble photographing a nail look. Ever. I know my Samsung doesn’t photograph neons well but this became a whole new level of ridiculous!! I spent all day snapping pictures in different lights, inside, outside, sideways and upside down and only managed a few good shots none of which captured the actual gradient..

It was pretty defined and ranged from yellow to neon pink to neon purple but there is no way you can see it!

I have a couple of pictures in this post because I actually liked how both came out…even if I couldn’t quite capture the colors properly; so, I apologize in advance for that! Hope you like it anyway!

#31DC2015 – Rainbow Splatter Paint Nail Art

I finally did it. I used the traditional rainbow color scheme on my nails! I think this is the first time in, well, ever I’ve done this! And I am going to be perfectly honest with you…I don’t like it…

This was the day of the month I least looked forward to. I love colors, neons, clashes etc. but when it comes to the ROYGBIV array I cannot get on board. I watched Robin Moses’ splatter paint technique (linked here) and immediately gave it a try. I could not think of anything else (except maybe dashes) for this prompt.

What do you think? I personally don’t like it but that’s my personal color preference. I think I should have gone with one or two colors – in different shades. I almost did not even want to post this but…
