This was my first attempt at French tips! I almost chickened out and did a simple glitter gradient but  I plucked up my courage, striping tape and gave it a go!

As I feared, this manicure was incredibly unforgiving…this is my first French tips so please go easy on me!

I started with 3 coats of China Glaze In the Limelight and 1 coat of Zoya Opal as my base.

I sponged Serum No. 5 Forest Lights on the tips.

For the French tips, I used striping tape and Julie G White Orchid.

Hi, my name is Monica and I have RA.

Don’t forget to check out the other manicures!

Bundle Monster, Bundle Monster Turns 5 challenge, butter London, dotticure, freehand, Nail Art, Sephora by OPI, Serum No 5, stamping, Wet n Wild

I love the asymmetrical dotticure. It looks fun and does not require the upmost precision! Polka dots can be very RA-friendly.

I tried to go for a whimsical fairy-tale kind of look with dark forest-y colors. I hope you like it!

ImageI used 1 coat of Wet n Wild Blue Moon, 1 coat of butter London Knackered, and 1 coat of Serum No 5 Forest Lights as my base.

I detailed with Sephora by OPI Domestic Goddess and Ms. Can’t Be Wrong.

I stamped with Bundle Monster plate BM 302 and Essie No Place Like Chrome.

Today’s theme for Bundle Monster’s 30 day challenge is sprinkles! I thought it would be fitting to use one of my “sprinkle” nail polishes and some spun sugar!

ImageI used 2 coats Julie G White Orchid as my base. On the middle and ring finger I also added 1 coat of Nails Inc. Sprinkles Sweets Way and 1 coat of Serum No. 5 Happy Special Day!

I stamped with Bundle Monster plate BM 322 and Konad Special Polish in Black.

I sugar-spun with Milani Vivid Violet and Peacock.

I really hope I keep up with this nail art challenge!! It will be happening on top of all my other posts but I love my Bundle Monster plates and I really want to participate. If you would like, check out the banner on my sidebar for more information! (It links to the official press release on the website). The one rule of the challenge/contest is to use a Bundle Monster product. That means more stamping for me!!

The first prompt is sugar spun. !!!!!!!  …And what goes better with sugar than sweets?

Sorry about the picture quality! I am still playing around with lights (I need to buy a new one) so it is hit or miss on the lighting and quality.

I used 2 coats of American Apparel Parakeet, a generous coat of Milani Sugar High, and Serum No. 5 Happy Special Day! as my base.

I sealed and evened the base with a coat of Seche Vite.

I stamped with Konad Special Polish in Black and Bundle Monster plate BM 322.

I sugar-spun with Essie Naughty Nautical, Deborah Lippmann Popular (Wicked collection) and butter London Cotton Buds. These colors reminded me the most of icing!

NAIL May Theme Four: Tape Manicure

I should get on my A-game and buy some manicure tape! All I own is masking tape!

I have not stopped using green polishes since last week’s Emerald challenge and I was feeling this combination.

In retrospect, for photo purposes, I should have used better contrasting polishes but I really like the subtle effect on the nail.

ImageI used 2 coats of Zoya Yara as my base. I waited for it to dry completely before adding masking tape to the right half of my nail.

I sponged Zoya Giovanna and Serum No 5 Forest Lights on the other side.

The Crumpet’s SIMPLES Challenge: Week One – The Non-Pattern Accent Nail

17 Saturday May 2014

Debbie from The Crumpet is hosting another Nail Art challenge. But instead of a challenge it is a learning game! Every week she will post the prompt and we try our best at each one! As we progress through the challenge, we will see others’ interpretations on the prompt, share tips and tricks, and sort through difficulties.

When I read about the SIMPLES challenge (her blog post linked here) I knew I would take part! I am new to the nail art universe and I am always down to learn new tricks and support other nail polish enthusiasts!

The Facebook group is linked here. The set up is a little different for this group. There are no Inlinkz and the group is solely for SIMPLES manicures.

I hope you enjoy mine! I decided to pull out a rather unloved neon orange polish from the depths of my stash. It saw the light for a few minutes then returned to the back of the shelf.

ImageI used 2 coats Color Club Wham! Pow! as my base. I keep this in my collection because I have no other neon oranges but I do not like it. The formula is tacky, not thick or gloopy, just, tacky. So, it is not ideal for water marbling or nail art. Poor unloved nail polish. I’d love any recommendations on good neon orange polishes so I can put this poor Color Club out of its misery and retire it!

I layered Serum No. 5 Fallen on my pinky until I liked the result.

Apologies on the slightly blurry picture. Neons seem to be the mortal enemies of my camera!!

FingerFood’s Themed Weeks: Delicious

FingerFood theme, freeh, Milani, Nail Art, Serum No 5, sugar-spun

I will never say no to an over-flowing bowl of mint chocolate chip ice cream. Since I am craving it like mad it was the first thing that popped into my mind when I saw this week’s prompt.

…I added sugar-spun, because, well, ice cream has sugar? Do I need an excuse to use this technique??

I love how the brown dried, it really reminds me of chocolate chips/chocolate sauce.

I rarely show my thumb on the blog but I love the drizzle so I decided to include a picture.

ImageI used 2 coats Milani Mint Chip, 1 coat Milani Sugar High and 1 coat Serum No 5 Happy Special Day! as my base. (I realized if I had used my black and white Milani glitter I would have had a complete GOT manicure, but I was feeling something more colorful)

I drizzled with Milani Dark Coffee.
