Oh boy, I just caught up with all my posts!

My favorite color combination has always been blue and neon orange. They clash but are so much fun!

I used 2 coats of Color Club Wham! Pow! and 1 coat Cult Nails Captivated as my base.

I applied 1 to 2 coats of Sephora by OPI Lights, Glammer-a, Action! to my liking and I stamped with Urban Outfitters Blue Velvet and MoYou London plate 08 from the Sailor Collection.

Here is my submission for the first week of NAIL, hosted by Craftynail, Brijit’s Digits, and Eeeek! Nail Polish!

For this week’s challenge I grabbed my red polishes, some brushes, and just messed around.

I hope you like it!

My World Cancer Day nails took so long last night I could not do my Tri-Polish Challenge submission!

I realized when I finish, it reminded me of these awesome ice cream nails from Emma’s Manicurity, linked here!

And a picture before I added top coat! I really like both looks.

I used two coats of Sephora by OPI Metro Chic as my base.

I splattered with Milani Dark Coffee and China Glaze Fuchsia (a polish I can use for the GOT challenge!)

Enjoy!

Nail-Art-A-Go-Go Day 4: Monochrome/World Cancer Day

I’ve been so lucky my last couple of manicures have served two purposes. Today’s Nail-Art-A-Go-Go challenge is monochrome and today so happens to be World Cancer Day as well!

My mom passed away of cancer so this manicure means a lot to me. It came out really nicely except for that blasted clean-up! I forgot Chanel Taboo stains skin like mad. Overall though, I really like the finished product.

I used 2 coats of Sephora by OPI Ms. Can’t Be Wrong as my base.

I stamped with Bundle Monster plate BM-321 and Milani Black Cherry.

Polishes Used for Sugar-Spun Technique:

  • Zoya Payton (a new favorite!)
  • Chanel Taboo (gorgeous color but stains anything not covered in base coat)
  • Pretty Jelly Plum in Love
  • Milani Black Cherry

I hope you enjoy!

Product Review/Hate: Refresh Contacts – Contact Lens Comfort Drops

Disclaimer: If you like the product, great! This is my experience and opinion on the product.

I found out the RA began affecting my eyesight. I suffered from severe dry eye, inflammation and image displacement. (I thought I was going crazy. I was talking to people and all of a sudden they moved back a foot…!!)

I started an artificial tear regime, switched to daily contacts, and increased my glasses usage. For artificial tears my doctors recommended the Systane drops. LOOVE them. Unfortunately, they do not have a contacts version (that I have seen).

Did you know?

The preservatives in artificial tear drops destroy contact lenses?

I didn’t!

I picked up the Refresh Contacts Contact Lens Comfort Drops. I was familiar with the brand so why not? These eye drops claimed to be “moisture drops for dry eyes”.

HAH!

Let me start by saying I do not usually hate products. I may not like them for one reason or another. I may find something better…

These drops dried out my eyes! Not only that, they dried out my eyelashes, eyelids and under eyes. If I wore eye make up, it instantly flaked, caked and crusted.

And the worst thing was it broke the seal between my lens and eyeball. The lens stuck on the outer edges but allowed air in. This resulted in blurred vision and more irritation. My eyes were more inflamed than before I added these “moisture” drops! Talk about uncomfortable!

On top of the product’s poor performance, the bottle’s tip and cap crusted over after the first use. Sorry but I did not want to put any of that near my eyes!

The point of artificial tears is to lubricate and reduce inflammation on the surface of the eye, not make it worse.

If you are purchasing eye drops stay away from the Refresh Contacts, I would recommend the Systane Preservative-free vials instead!

Nail-Art-A-Go-Go Day 3: Warm vs. Cool

Tags

Purple can be warm or cool but given the silver micro-glitter I decided to use it as my “cold” color.

This is my first attempt at textured polish nail art! I was initially going to try stamping over the textured base but I chickened out!

I decided to go to my old dotticure standby and it came out just like a circus!!

Polishes Used:

  • Julie G Gumdrops Gift of GoldSugar Plum Fairy
  • Maybelline Brocades Crushed Crimson
  • Pretty Jelly Dream Cloud

I am  not a fan of the Maybelline polish because it is so gritty and does not apply evenly. I keep it around because it is so pretty, but I only use it for dotting.

Nail-Art-A-Go-Go Day 2: Jewel Tones/FingerFood’s Theme Weeks: Birthday

Tags

I decided to kill two birds with one stone this weekend.

Yesterday was my birthday and the February birthstone is amethyst! Amethyst so happens to be my favorite jewel tone anyways so why not create a manicure that serves two purposes??

I took inspiration from my favorite childhood pastime: breaking open GEODES! Seriously, I loved hammering away at those things…I was weird little kid.

Image

I used 2 coats of Zoya Payton as my base.

I then sponged and “water-colored” with Essie No Place Like ChromeChanel GondolaZoya Payton and Yara.

Generally, the insides of geodes are very muted and not all that shiny so I finished with 1 coat Essie Matte about You. Enjoy!
