Oh Mon Dieu 2 Challenge – Day 9: Jelly

I do not own a single jelly! I need to change this. The closest I have is a recent Revlon Gel Envy purchase. Why it is close? Because it has “gel” in the name. Gel is short for Jelly, right??

It is not a jelly but dries to a springy finish. I love describing things as “springy” or “spongy” because it makes everything a little more fun.

I also used a polish with “Jelly” in the name. This all counts towards the prompt, right? I say yes, in a weird twist five times around kind of way!

I hope you like it. I have been in a stamping mood so I layered a couple of this manicure.

DSCF0177_fotorI used 2 coats of Revlon Gel Envy High Stakes as my base. Revlon polishes are hit or miss with me but this polish is definitely a hit. The formula is good and the color is gorgeous.

I stamped with MoYou London plate 03 (Scholar collection), Pretty Jelly Plum in Love and Essie No Place Like Chrome. Both polishes stamped really well!

Galaxies are one of my favorite nail arts! They are abstract and I get to mess around with sponging, dotting and colors until I am happy! You can imagine my excitement over this week’s Theme Buffet prompt! (Facebook group linked here.)

I hope you enjoy my blue-ish, purple-y, shimmer galaxy!

Image

I used 2 coats of Milani Black Swift, 1 coat of butter London The Black Knight, and 2 generous coats of Milani Sprinkles as my base.

Polishes used for detailing:

  • Julie G White Orchid
  • Urban Outfitters Blue Velvet
  • Color Club Pucci-licious
  • Zoya Crystal
  • Pretty Jelly Dream Cloud
  • Sally Hansen Slick Black

Tools used:

  • Dotting tools (two sizes)
  • Sponge-tip applicators
  • Small artist brush

I topped off with Seche Vite to protect the detailing before finishing with a generous coat of INM Northern Lights.

NAIL April Theme One: Rain

Brijit's Digits, Nail Art Ideas Linkup, Pretty Jelly, Sinful Colors, Zoya

Rain, rain, go away come again another day!

I do not like rain, it affects my condition more than cold weather and snow do 😦 I LOVE the hours before a big rainstorm though – when the air is slightly humid and warm.

I hope you enjoy my raindrops in the foggy clouds!

ImageI used 1 coat of butter London Cotton Buds and 2 generous coats of Brijit’s Digits Is It a Boy? (I love this polish. The formula is wonderful and when layered it is the perfect jelly sandwich, even though it is a creme).

I sponged, at the cuticles, Sinful Colors Nail Junkie with Zoya Payton on top. (I have been loving Nail Junkie but it is the hardest nail polish to clean up! Even with pure acetone the glitter pieces DO NO BUDGE!)

I dotted with Pretty Jelly Dream Cloud.

Nail-Art-A-Go-Go Day 4: Monochrome/World Cancer Day

Bundle Monster, Chanel, freehand, Milani, Nail Art, Nail Art A Go Go, Pretty Jelly, Sephora by OPI, stamping, sugar-spun, Zoya

I’ve been so lucky my last couple of manicures have served two purposes. Today’s Nail-Art-A-Go-Go challenge is monochrome and today so happens to be World Cancer Day as well!

My mom passed away of cancer so this manicure means a lot to me. It came out really nicely except for that blasted clean-up! I forgot Chanel Taboo stains skin like mad. Overall though, I really like the finished product.

Image

I used 2 coats of Sephora by OPI Ms. Can’t Be Wrong as my base.

I stamped with Bundle Monster plate BM-321 and Milani Black Cherry.

Polishes Used for Sugar-Spun Technique:

  • Zoya Payton (a new favorite!)
  • Chanel Taboo (gorgeous color but stains anything not covered in base coat)
  • Pretty Jelly Plum in Love
  • Milani Black Cherry

I hope you enjoy!

Nail-Art-A-Go-Go Day 3: Warm vs. Cool

Purple can be warm or cool but given the silver micro-glitter I decided to use it as my “cold” color.

This is my first attempt at textured polish nail art! I was initially going to try stamping over the textured base but I chickened out!

I decided to go to my old dotticure standby and it came out just like a circus!!

Polishes Used:

  • Julie G Gumdrops Gift of Gold, Sugar Plum Fairy
  • Maybelline Brocades Crushed Crimson
  • Pretty Jelly Dream Cloud

I am  not a fan of the Maybelline polish because it is so gritty and does not apply evenly. I keep it around because it is so pretty, but I only use it for dotting.

31DC2013 Day 15: Delicate Print

#31DC2013, Bundle Monster, Chanel, freehand, indie polish, marbling, Nail Art, Orly, Pretty Jelly, Sephora by OPI, stamping, Zoya

I love love love how this came out. Unfortunately, the pictures do not do it justice.

I am really bummed that I have to take it off for tomorrow’s challenge.

Delicate Print

And another angle:

Image

I started with three coats of Sephora by OPI “Mr. Right Now”. I finally found my red! It dries to a jelly finish so I need three coats for full opacity. The formula is awesome and does not streak.

I sponged Zoya “Cheryl” and Pretty Jelly “Plum In Love”. I love the Pretty Jelly polishes. The holographic ones are so pretty!

I used a small brush to apply Pretty Jelly “Dream Cloud” and “Plum In Love” to any bald spots.

I applied one coat of Seche Vite.

I marbled Orly “Won’t Chip” and Zoya “Adina” on my ring finger. This was a trial and I did not like how it came out. It totally masked the colors underneath.

I marbled Orly “Won’t Chip” top coat and Chanel “Taboo” on the rest of the fingers. The colors are so similar that it is difficult to capture the marbling in pictures. It is a shame because it came out so nicely! However, I do like the subtlety.

I waited for the polishes to dry before stamping Bundle Monsters plate “BM-314” with Urban Outfitters “Westside”.

I cannot contain my excitement on this manicure. I really really love it!
