Bundle Monster, Essie, Julie G, Nail Art, Orly, Sally Hansen, Sephora by OPI, stamping
And for your reading pleasure…Dumb Sh*t Monica Thinks: I walked into Trader Joe’s to buy dog food late last week and wondered why there were so many turkeys for sale….In my haste to get to the winter holidays I totally forgot about the fall ones!
Everyone in DC drives like they are bracing a snowstorm…even when there are barely any flakes.
By the way, it has not snowed yet but everyone thought it would!
I like the blurrier pictures because they lend more to the effect of snow flurries!
I used 2 coats of Sally Hansen Triple Shine “Slick Black”. I am not a huge fan of Sally Hansen polishes but the color on this was too amazing to pass up. I needed two thick coats to reach full opacity. The polish is a lot more sheer than it appears in the bottle.
I stamped with Essie “No Place Like Chrome” and Bundle Monster plate “BM 323”.
I love marbling each color separately. Marbles are messy so they should look messy! Well, not all the time, but I like the look of a “messy marble”.
I marbled with Orly “Bonder” and Sephora by OPI “Go My Own Way”.
I then marbled with Orly and Slick Black. I love how it cancelled out the colors underneath.
I stamped snowflakes with Julie G “White Orchid” and Bundle Monster plate “BM 319”.

It may have been warm (as in high 60s) and sunny today, but I was craving snow!
Also, I just wanted to play with my new polishes!
The second picture better shows the “snow falling from the sky” effect I was going for.
I used 3 coats of Revlon Parfumerie “Fresh Linen”. This is a very frosty, pearly white. The formula is extremely streaky and barely reaches full opacity with three coats. However, the scent does reflect clean laundry and is not overwhelming. Amazingly, it still smells even after top coat!
I dotted with Julie G “White Orchid” and topped with Seche Vite.
I sponged Maybelline Color Show Brocades “Crushed Crimson” on the bottom half of my nails. I did not capture it in these two photos but there is a heavy gold shimmer in it.
I re-dotted with White Orchid and topped with Sinful Colors “Holiday Rebel”.

I really have to gush about this nail art. I wanted to go for a snow globe effect, which I had a lot of trouble photographing. In person, though, it looks exactly like a snow globe! There are a ton of top coat layers. This manicure better last!
The picture below shows the snow globe effect a little better.
Now on to the fun stuff. Let’s see if I remember all the steps!
I started with 2 coats Milani “Peacock”.
I dotted with Julie G “White Orchid” and Essie “No Place Like Chrome”.
I stamped with Zoya “Crystal”, Wet n Wild “Blue Moon”, and Bundle Monster plate “BM 319”.
I applied 1 heavy coat of Seche Vite.
I used water decals from Born Pretty Store on my thumb and middle finger.
I applied 2 coats of Seche Vite and 1 coat of INM “Northern Lights”.
I dotted again with the Zoya, Wet n Wild, and Julie G.
1 more coat of Seche Vite!
I hope you enjoy this as much as I do!

My local climbing gym hosts a Halloween party every year. It’s like any other night except people dress up and climb in their costumes. It’s different and cute and not scary, at all. The lights are bright, there is loud music and NO scary outfits. I generally hate (edit: strongly dislike) Halloween because of its creepy, chilling nature. I do not do scary. Never have, never will.
So, this funky party at the gym is right up my alley. I don’t mind this chocked up sugar “holiday” when there are no creepy clowns, murderous babies, or zombies devouring human flesh. I can get right behind it in bright colors and happy music.
This may be the Hispanic part of me (I am half-Peruvian) and observe Día de Los Muertos. It was initially a celebration and remembrance of those who have left us. There is none of the black and gray and scary nonsense. Colors! Celebration! Happy thoughts!
With my Rheumatoid Arthritis, heavy clothing was not an option so I opted for some neon sportswear (UnderArmour did a great neon legging in neon orange, red and green. I only bought the green and to this day regret not buying all the colors), a white tank top and some fun neon nails.
This nail art was not meant to stay on past the night so I did a quick, arthritis-friendly watercolor. I applied dots of polish then thinned them out with a paintbrush and acetone until I got the splotchy effect I wanted.
Base: Julie G White Orchid, Seche Vite Quick Dry Top Coat
Details: Color Club Almost Famous (yellow), Wham Pow! (orange), Warhol (pink), Sephora by OPI Cover Me in Petals (purple). Milani Peacock (blue) — all discontinued
Matte Top Coat: Cult Nails Wax That (brand no longer available)

Still going with the color scheme I decided to try my hand at some full on sugar-spun.
I used Wet n Wild “Black Creme” with one coat of Cover Girl Glosstinis “Flamed Out” as the base for my middle and pinky finger.
I used Julie G “White Orchid” with one coat Cover Girl Glosstinis “Flamed Out” as the base for my index and ring finger.
I used Milani “Black Swift”, “Foxy Lady”, and Urban Outfitters “Banana Hammock” for the sugar-spinning. Initially, I had a pattern all set up but I ended up just going with the flow of what looked good.
