Wow, how time flies…It feels like just yesterday I participated in the last 31 day challenge!

This is arguably the biggest challenge of the year. Nail artists across the globe participate and share their gorgeous looks on blogs, Instagram and Twitter. Use the nail art social media hashtag: #31dc2017 to ensure everyone sees your designs!

Every day in September we tackle a open-ended prompt and create looks to our heart’s content. Of course, in true Monica with RA fashion, I stick to primarily arthritis friendly looks because that is a lot of small motor function for a month!

Here is the badge I will use on my blog but there are four more here. Save it, share it, use it and participate! The more the merrier, always!

I am slowly but surely moving through the A to Z Challenge. I lost steam last week after a serious flare. My Orencia infusion cut out early (aka stopped working) and I barely functioned. But, today, I am back with a fun marbled stamping look. I used a fun purely plaid Born Pretty Store stamping plate! I’ve used it before and I’ll use it again.

I did not use any neon green polishes but in the sunlight these two look totally florescent. How cool! I hope you enjoy!

IMG_5078I am seriously digging how this final look came out! It is fun and funky, great for this weird hot weather in Spring.

#AtoZChallenge – I is for Ice Cream Nails!

Blogging A to Z, Nail Art, nails

Doing your nails once a day is hard…let alone every day for a full month. I considered a few different words starting with the letter I. Last night though, I was eating my favorite ice cream and it just came to me: why don’t I do a simple Neapolitan-inspired gradient?

Admittedly, Neapolitan is not my favorite flavor but I frequently buy it when my favorite brand is on sale. I mix all the flavors together until they are a yogurt consistency and chow down.

If you live on the East Coast you might be familiar with the Omish Country brand “Turkey Hill”. This brand makes the BEST ice cream. Ever. Seriously, nothing compares. It is super sweet but not sickly. The taste is rich and smooth and totally filling. You want for nothing when eating this ice cream.

My all time favorite flavor is Mint Chip but it is always sold out (especially when the tubs are on sale 2 for $6, which is all summer long). So, I settle, not really, for Chocolate, Vanilla or Neapolitan! Turkey Hill also makes a fantastic coffee flavor too!

So, I hope you like this gradient inspired by my favorite ice cream brand! I used acrylic paints for this look. Unfortunately, the tips of my nails started to wear the next morning (when I take my photos). Tends to be an occupational hazard when not using true polish!

For today’s post, I went with a speckled eggs and spring flowers nail art! I unintentionally only used Zoya polishes and MoYou London stamping plates!

I have to say, I kind of dig it. Hope you do too!

easterBase: sponged acrylic paints

Speckles: Zoya Gwin (orange), Reece (pink), Saint (blue), Giovanna (green)

Stamping: MoYou London plate Suki-09, Zoya Louise (brown)

Every so often I participate in Instagram nail art challenges. They are great community builders and awesome ways to make friends! I combined prompts from the Glam Nails Challenge and Clairestelle8 Challenge because, work smarter not harder, right?? Heh…

Pastels are an interesting color palette. They are pretty but are surprisingly difficult to work with. People claim color pops over white bases but I think pastels work better over darker ones. What do you think? I adore how these nails came out…the creamy pastels really jump out at me!

Mmm…Melted Candy Canes

It’s been too long since I did a sugar-spin. It is my favorite technique but takes way to much time. I have to carve out at least two or three hours for cleanup and drying time.

But, it is always worth it! And, unfortunately, this is a technique few nail artists enjoy.

Candy, candy canes and Christmas/festive foods are all popular challenge prompts this month and I wanted to kill at least three or four birds with one stone. I mulled over a few different candy cane ideas in my head. I had water decals with candy canes, I could do a tried and true dotticure or even attempt a striped look but none of them felt right. Of course, a melted sugar-spin was just the ticket.

I hope you like it! Check out my Instagram (here) for the full list of challenges I participated in.

I re-did these nails every year and tweaked them a little each time. They were pretty cute and this year was no exception.

Zoya had a seriously awesome Black Friday sale back in November (can you say 70% off???) so I bought too many more polishes than I have room for. I used two of them for this look.

I hope you like it. This look served for the “decorations” prompt for Challenge Your Nail Art.
