Sometimes all you want is simple glitter nails and nothing is easier or more arthritis friendly than applying glitter to just the tips of your nails. All you do is take a foam eye shadow applicator, load up the polish and dab away. Stress even less with a peel off base product. You don’t have to rub at your fingers with drying acetone just peel the polish right off!

For this look, I dug into my collection and pulled out an old (very old) Milani polish that still works well. Even though it is a glitter topper it stains my nails every time I use it! I don’t mind though because it’s so freaking pretty. For a little extra flair (because why not) I added some holographic nail topper goodness as well.

Enjoy!

Mmm…Melted Candy Canes

It’s been too long since I did a sugar-spin. It is my favorite technique but takes way to much time. I have to carve out at least two or three hours for cleanup and drying time.

But, it is always worth it! And, unfortunately, this is a technique few nail artists enjoy.

Candy, candy canes and Christmas/festive foods are all popular challenge prompts this month and I wanted to kill at least three or four birds with one stone. I mulled over a few different candy cane ideas in my head. I had water decals with candy canes, I could do a tried and true dotticure or even attempt a striped look but none of them felt right. Of course, a melted sugar-spin was just the ticket.

I hope you like it! Check out my Instagram (here) for the full list of challenges I participated in.

#AtoZChallenge – P is for Pros and Bronze

This particular shade ended up in the back of my gold polish shelf because I rarely use it. I don’t know why though because it is a seriously gorgeous color!

Pros & Bronze is a gold, copper, bronze shade with some specs of green mixed in for good measure. In any given lighting the colors give it a speckled look. It was introduced to the OPI line back in 2011 as part of the Serena Williams “Grand Slam” collection. I found this particular bottle sitting in the sad little OPI shelf at CVS!

I like this shade better than pure gold just because it has so much more dimension!

What do you think of it?

OPI’s polishes are sometimes a hit or miss for me. Some of the formulas and colors are fantastic, while others are just “meh”.

However, Guys & Galaxies, from their recent Starlight Collection, is one of my favorites. The formula is sheer and the color is similar if not a complete dupe for Sephora by OPI’s (SOPI) Mr. Right Now. This would not be a shock as both brands are OPI but it is nice to know there is another option since Sephora dropped OPI in favor of Formula X Nails.

opibottleFor today’s O post, I did a quick and simple stamping look!

I hope you like it!

Red and Metallics Watermarble | Nail Art

31DC2016weekly, clearwater, Nail Art, OPI, Pipe Dream Polish, red, Starlight collection, watermarble, Zoya

Hello everyone!

My latest infusion kicked in and I feel less tired than usual which means more nail art!

I recently got my paws on Pipe Dream Polish’s elusive “Clearwater” polish. This is a clear polish exclusive for water-marbling so you can still see a base color through a watermarble design!

Now all I want to do is watermarble! Unfortunately, it has been so long since I did a true marble I am more than a little rusty. That’s okay, I practiced a little and am getting back into the swing of things.

watermarble3Amy from the Instagram account McPolish is hosting a 31-week version of the September 31-Day Challenge. Instead of tackling daily prompts we are attempting one prompt a week. This challenge will take us well into this years #31DC2016 so I may cut out early or maybe I will overachieve and do both! ….Too bad I can’t predict or gauge how I will feel that far into the future…

#31DC2016weekly (the tag on social media accounts) started last Saturday but for the life of me I could not think of anything to do. I tried a red dotticure which looked nothing short of hideous. I attempted a skittle which fit less than five separate jigsaw puzzles. I took a step back and picked one red to base an entire look and I fell short. I realized early on that red is an uninspiring color for me! I’ve never liked how true reds look against my skin tone so in general I steer clear of the color.

watermarble2_edited-1I settled on a watermarble because well, why not and I am so pleased with the final result! I practiced creating the marble a few times because the gold and red (from separate brands) did nor want to play together and refused to spread properly. Eventually, I managed a few bullseyes I could get on board with. I hope you like it!

A New Year’s Metallic Waterfall | Nail Art

I still maintain my purchase of the limited edition Chanel Le Bleu nail polishes was completely necessary because when I combed through my collection of polishes for something to wear on New Year’s Eve none of them seemed right. Fortissimo was the only one that spoke to me as the perfect midnight blue for a late night. It definitely did not disappoint! The color and sparkle were quite noticeable, necessary for the glitziest night of the year. Sure, I had other midnight blues but they looked dull next to this gorgeous Chanel!

I also wanted to use this great polish as the base for a fun New Year’s look and thought metallics would pop against the color. I created something that reminds me of fireworks without the extra work of drawing them out and I am very pleased with the final result!

I hope you all had a great start to the New Year and I will talk to you soon!

Long time no see, everyone!

After my cracked rib I lost my nail art mojo and then we had guests from out of town for the Christmas holidays. They loved painting their nails and I hung out with them while they did but I realized doing my own nails was a very solitary exercise. Not sure why, but that’s how I felt!

Of course, I felt the pang of not posting and as we quickly came up to New Year’s I felt a little sparkle was in order.

I hope you like my simple nail art today!
