I haven’t done a gradient in a very long time and I just felt like doing one! Pink and purple together are always a great and forgiving option. I mean that I can spend half as much time sponging the gradient when the colors complement each other! This is a great thing when I am feeling stiff from the RA.

Enjoy! I added double stamping because well…why not? Do you like the index finger or the others better? I can’t decide!

gradient2I actually forgot I had these China Glaze polishes in my stash since they were all the way in the back. After clean-up, though, I kind of remember why I don’t use them that often.

gradient3Though, these colors blended so well I am kind of mesmerized! I did use a transition color between the bright pink and dark purple and that really elevated this gradient to the next level.

gradient1Base: SinfulColors Snow Me White (to make the colors on top pop)

Gradient: China Glaze Purple Panic (pink), Caribbean Temptation (transition), Zoya Haven

Stamping: Pueen Cosmetics stamping plate PUEEN83, Konad Nail Art Stamping Polish – White, Color Club Nail Lacquer On the Rocks (silver)

I am slowly but surely moving through the A to Z Challenge. I lost steam last week after a serious flare. My Orencia infusion cut out early (aka stopped working) and I barely functioned. But, today, I am back with a fun marbled stamping look. I used a fun purely plaid Born Pretty Store stamping plate! I’ve used it before and I’ll use it again.

I did not use any neon green polishes but in the sunlight these two look totally florescent. How cool! I hope you enjoy!

IMG_5078I am seriously digging how this final look came out! It is fun and funky, great for this weird hot weather in Spring.

Stamping: Born Pretty Store Checker and Plaid stamping plate, Barry M Cosmetics Cancun (dark turquoise) , Color Club Twiggie (sea foam green)

Blue, Blue and Blue Dots | Nail Art

Asymmetrical dotticures are my second favorite look (after sugar-spins). I like that there is no pattern so I do not have to painstakingly measure the area between dots. They do not have to be perfectly sized to their neighbors and the eye plays tricks so the nail always looks the same as the others.

I hope you like it!

Oh Winter Storm Jonas, how you have flared my rheumatoid arthritis. I am going to be all over the RA-friendly nail art techniques because of the aftermath (read: shoveling ourselves out of our houses) of the freak blizzard we had on the East Coast. As of now, we are still stranded on our street and just finished shoveling our driveways. Tomorrow we tackle the walkway to the mailbox!

One of the most RA-friendly nail art techniques is plastic bag marbling in which I place dots of polish on my nail then squish it around with a plastic baggie. I saw stamper-made marbling all over Instagram recently and gave it a go. It was interesting and fun but I liked the former technique better. When I used the stamper, the polish applied sheer and it took three “attempts” to build up the opacity; once it dried on the stamper I had to start the process all over again. Placing the polish directly to the nail was quicker, easier and just way more convenient.

Regardless, I will continue to play around with the stamper and see if I can come to enjoy it more!

Please check out my video tutorial for this look! I also demonstrate how to use the new design foils from the Born Pretty Store.

All Natural Marble | Nail Art

I have not done any true marbling recently and dread hitting the water again. After countless hours of practice I am at a point in water-marbling where I am consistently happy with the outcome. But, unfortunately, if I don’t use it, I lose it and I feel like I am starting from scratch!!

I eased myself back into the water nail art sports with the much simpler water-spotting technique and tried something I had wanted to for a long time: natural marble! I saran-ed the base then water-spotted the brown for a more natural look.

I hope you like it!

Freehand Winter Berries | Nail Art

Well, I’ve been MIA for a while! I had no intention of this but just felt completely uninspired to produce nail art. I felt really crummy because I was not painting my nails   but couldn’t put anything on them! To help me get my mojo back I will take part in some nail art challenges or groups and hopefully the prompts will jump start my creativity.

It is strange because I always feel the least inspired at the beginning of a new year. While everyone is creating a list of resolutions and bumping the air for starting them out strong I feel depressed and down. Not depressed in a sad way but just unmotivated. This may be in part to never having felt the same excitement over New Year’s as my peers. I never quite understood why New Year’s was the only motivation for changing one’s life. If something needs to change, why wait…why not just go for it now?

Heh, that’s my realistic (read: pessimistic) view on the New Year but regardless, I hope you all enjoyed yours with friends and family!

I hope you like today’s look!

Christmas is Coming Red and Green Dotticure | Nail Art

Check the sidebar for more information.

I am TOTALLY off my nail art game which makes me really upset because I love Christmas and holiday nail art more than anything! I finally got some of my mojo back for the “Christmas is Coming” prompt but I am still not up to my usual standards.

I confused my nail art challenges and “Christmas is Coming” is part of the Clairestelle8challenge on IG!

I won the Formula X Nails Infinite Ombre kit from an Instagram giveaway and I honestly never thought I would use it nearly as much as I do. I thought the sheer polish trend was cool but was never interested enough in it to pursue it further. I like the colors in the kit and I like how well they blend together. However, they are a bit thicker than typical sheer polish which for me, is neither here nor there.

Can you believe I forgot I own “Holiday Rebel” by SinfulColors?? It is the perfect holiday glitter and I pushed it back into the cabinet over the year. I finally dusted him off, apologized profusely for neglecting him and eagerly dabbed him on my nails. I need to find a use for this very awesomely secular polish. Otherwise, I’ll use once, twice maybe thrice tops, which is far less than he deserves.

Anyways,

I hope you like this look!
