I am such a sucker for 31-day challenges. I do not know what it is but I cannot resist them! Debbie from The Crumpet is guiding her Nail Tarts through a beginning of the new year monthly challenge and I definitely wanted to hop in. I cannot make any promises about finishing this one on time but I will certainly try!

Fittingly, on Day One, we must follow a tutorial. I choose to follow the Nailasaurus’ Nimbus technique. I often use this technique as it is very RA-friendly. The technique itself does not require a lot of precision and the final look can be as defined or abstract as I want. The first time I did the nimbus technique I used a different tutorial (I now do not remember which) and since then I have always had trouble with the Q-tips coming apart after every two or three dabs.

After following Sammy’s steps I no longer have this problem. Sammy’s technique works nicely, and I have to say, I really love my design.

I hope you like it too!

Day 1: Follow a Tutorial | The Rite of Aging I started with 2 coats of Sinful Colors Snow Me White as my base.

I “nimbus-ed” starting with Julie G Peep Toe Pumps, Barry M Gelly Grapefruit, Milani Fast Fuchsia, and Sally Hansen Insta-Dri Petal Pusher.

I sealed the design with Seche Vite top coat.

Today’s prompt for the Bundle Monster Halloween challenge is Jack O’Lanterns! I loved carving pumpkins when I was little. The activity will always hold a special place in my heart because I did it with my mom. She would cut open the pumpkin and removed the innards. I was absolutely fascinated by the newspaper absorbing the moisture so I threw the guts on and watched the mess. At least I kept everything on the newspaper! We didn’t do scary so our carvings were always cute or funny. This was my first lesson in candle management. In the beginning, my mother reminded me to blow out the candle before  bed then she stopped to see if I remembered on my own. If I didn’t, she turned off the foyer lights so I saw the glow and remembered. It’s funny how certain memories just pop up randomly but I guess that’s the importance of remembrance and keeping those who are no longer here close to us.

Now that I’m done rambling and being a sap on to today’s manicure…

I had an idea: “nimbus” gold to mimic a glowing candle inside the Jack-O’-Lantern. I am okay with the final results but I don’t think I achieved what I wanted. I think I should have used a different base coat so that gold popped more but, at the same time, I wanted a subtle glow. I am really happy with my stamping, I am finally think I’m getting better at it.

I hope you like it!

Bundle Monster's 30 Days of Screams - Jack o' Lanterns | The Rite of Aging

I started with one coat of Color Club Almost Famous and two coats of Sephora by OPI Cab Fare as my base.

I “nimbus-ed” with Zoya Goldie.

I stamped with Bundle Monster plate BM-305 and Milani Black Swift.

Yesterday marked a new month in the TPC! I am excited about this month as I especially love the color combination!

For this week’s manicure I decided on the “Nimbus” technique. I remember seeing a similar design…somewhere…I think it might have been a phone’s wallpaper but if it is someone’s nail art idea please let me know so I can credit them appropriately!

I really like the Nimbus technique but I can only get one, maybe two dots per side of the Q-tip before it loses its shape. Is there a way around that? Otherwise, it is a great abstract technique suitable for RA-shaky hands!

DSCF0022_fotorI used 3 coats of Julie G White Orchid and Seche Vite as my base.

I detailed with q-tips, pure acetone, Color Club Twiggie, Poptastic, and Milani Vivid Violet.
