Christmas, christmas tag

Christmas Ornaments 2017 || the Rite of Aging...Early BlogIt’s that time of year again where everything is festive and bright. Everyone is merry and looking forward to food in abundance and more family time than they can manage.

I hope you enjoy this Christmas tag post! If you do one link me in the comments so I can see it!

All the best during the end of the year and holiday season!

Do you like to stay in your PJ’s or dress up for Christmas?

PJs all the way! Christmas is the only day it is okay to dress down! I can eat breakfast in my flannels, open presents and even cook dinner (though generally I don’t because Mom always said where clean clothes when cooking!)

If you could only buy one person a present this year, who would it be?

My pets (collective). My dad and I are not really holiday present people. We are always on the look out for them and if we find something we make an excuse, like ‘it’s your quarter birthday!’, to give it as a gift.

Christmas Ornaments 2017 || the Rite of Aging...Early BlogDo you open your presents Christmas Eve or Christmas morning?

Christmas morning.

Have you ever built a Gingerbread house?

I vaguely remember making one at my father’s holiday work party when I was six or seven years old. I don’t remember bringing it home and I’m sure I was not very good at decorating the house!

What do you like to do on your Christmas break?

Sleep! The holidays are the perfect time for me to rest and bring any Rheumatoid Arthritis flares down. The best days are those I take a nap with my three pets!

Christmas Ornaments 2017 || the Rite of Aging...Early BlogWhat’s your favorite Christmas meal or treat?

Mint hot cocoa from Trader Joe’s. I stock up and buy a few tins because the store always sells out. I personally love peppermint year round so I’m set with my favorite chocolate!

What’s your favorite holiday movie?

Rent. The story takes place during the holidays. It can be very depressing at times but it maintains the spirit of the season with an absolutely lovely story and even more beautiful music.

Candy Canes or Gingerbread Men?

Candy canes. By the way, why can’t I find the traditional red and white candy canes in grocery stores? They sell the green/white spearmint ones or the tri-colored ones but never the plain old-fashioned striped one!!

Have you ever made a snowman?

Yes, at my childhood best friend’s house. She, her brother, cousin and I worked together to make a huge one! That same winter, I attempted one on my own and proudly, the bottom snowball was taller than me; though, I couldn’t put them one on top of each other and it turned into a deconstructed snowman.

Which do you like better, Christmas Eve or Christmas Day?

Christmas Day! Everything starts on the morning of the 25th. I’d wake up early and enjoy hot cocoa with a slice of Paneton (hispanic fruitcake). We’d open presents and just hang out with the family! Sometimes, we’d go to a family friend’s house for dinner but generally the day was pretty chill.

White lights, or colored lights?

Honestly, it all depends on my mood. My family has accumulated a ton of traditional colorful Peruvian ornaments so I prefer white on the tree; but, sometimes I like a plain tree with colored strings and no ornaments!

Christmas is Coming Red and Green Dotticure | Nail Art

I am TOTALLY off my nail art game which makes me really upset because I love Christmas and holiday nail art more than anything! I finally got some of my mojo back for the “Christmas is Coming” prompt but I am still not up to my usual standards.

I confused my nail art challenges and “Christmas is Coming” is part of the Clairestelle8challenge on IG!

I won the Formula X Nails Infinite Ombre kit from an Instagram giveaway and I honestly never thought I would use it nearly as much as I do. I thought the sheer polish trend was cool but was never interested enough in it to pursue it further. I like the colors in the kit and I like how well they blend together. However, they are a bit thicker than typical sheer polish which for me, is neither here nor there.

Can you believe I forgot I own “Holiday Rebel” by SinfulColors?? It is the perfect holiday glitter and I pushed it back into the cabinet over the year. I finally dusted him off, apologized profusely for neglecting him and eagerly dabbed him on my nails. I need to find a use for this very awesomely secular polish. Otherwise, I’ll use once, twice maybe thrice tops, which is far less than he deserves.

Anyways,

I hope you like this look!

I am so behind on the 12 Days of Christmas challenge it’s not even funny. At the end of last week I felt lousy due to a potentially cracked rib and as the days crept by I realized I was not remotely inspired by ornaments or ugly Christmas sweaters (albeit, I already planned on skipping the ugly sweater prompt). I tried a couple of ornament looks and the designs I liked the most were too big for my nail so I opted out of that one as well. However, I want to go back and try the wrapping paper idea because I could go any which way with that prompt!

Anyways, back to today’s look. I sat down ready to start my candy cane stripes when I realized I was too picky to have mismatched stripes so I opted for dots!

I also managed a video tutorial for this look so I hope you like it!

Guess what starts in two days?? The 12 Days of Christmas Challenge as part of the Challenge Your Nail Art group (created and hosted by the wonderful and always supportive Jessica from Be Happy and Buy Polish)!

We did it last year and it was very popular and fun for the season so we are doing it again!

The challenge is very lax and you do not have to commit to all the prompts (read: sorry, Nightmare Before Christmas) and jump in as you see fit.

If you are interested in joining in check out the Facebook group and tag #ChallengeYourNailArt and #12DaysofChristmas on social media!

Can you tell I love the holidays?? Let’s do this season right!

Pink Snow Globe | Nail Art

Water decals purchased by me.

The Born Pretty Store Christmas decals are my absolute favorite and I purchase them every October. This year was no exception and I paid special attention to the snowmen  and reindeer who are absolutely adorable.

Today’s nail art is fashioned after a snow globe nail art I did two years ago (linked here) except this time I managed the look a little better.

I am on the fence with this one because I like last year’s better.

Maybe I shouldn’t have chosen pink and used a clear top coat for the layers? I do like it but something about this one isn’t quite right. I actually considered not even posting it but it took me so long I just had to! And, I mean, look at those smiling faces!

I hope you like it!

Water Decals: Born Pretty Store Smiling Snowmen Water Decals (scroll down to see the different sheets…and they even featured my review nail art!! How cool is that?!)
