I’ve been dying to try out this technique after I saw this recent video on Tartofraises Nail Art’s Youtube Channel! I not only love the look because it is neon but also because it is neon over black! In the past it took me forever and multiple layers for neons to show up over black. This is a great alternative for those bright colors to really pop!

I loved how the final look came out. It was super fun and easy and I will definitely try it again with a different design!

Neon Sheer Watercoloring | The Rite of AgingI started with 2 coats of Wet n Wild Black Creme as my base.

I stamped with Konad Special Polish White and Pueen Cosmetics plate PUEEN44.

I used a toothpick and Milani Spotlight White.

I used polish thinner, a fluffy artist’s brush, American Apparel Neon Red, Color Club Wham! Pow!, Warhol and China Glaze Sun Worshiper to color in the white design.

Stamping and Glitter Nail Art for A2Z Series: Q is for Quirky

Check the sidebar for more information.

I am on a glitter kick. When I decided to re-visit my glitters I loved them all (I guess there was a reason I bought them to begin with! – There was speculation I only purchased them because how they looked in the bottle!)

For the quirky prompt I decided to mix a textured polish with bright glitter, neon polish and stamping. Why not go whole hog? This would be the perfect time to do so!

During the “buy 3, recieve 3 mystery polishes” Zoya promotion I bought my first PixieDust! I’m not the biggest fan of these type of textured polishes but this one was so intriguing I had to have it! I heard a rumor that Zoya was discontinuing the PixieDust collection so I wanted to get hold of it before it was gone for good. I mean, to be a good nail art blogger, I had to, right? Hehehe!

I hope you like it!

Stamping and Glitter Nail Art | The Rite of AgingI started with American Apparel Neon Green as my base.

I applied a generous coat of Serum No. 5 Happy Special Day! One of my favorite polishes of all time, I am really sad I haven’t used it in so long!

I stamped with a Pueen Cosmetics plate from the Love Elements collection and Milani Black Swift.

I used Zoya PixieDust Imogen for the accent.

Born Pretty Store Round Stamping Plate Review

When I saw the woodland creatures plate on the Born Pretty Store website I knew I had to have it. I mean, animals, forest animals…and a panda!

I have a short review for you today on another round, single plate. I hope you like the nail art I created with it!

bps plate review

I used a handful of images from the plate and some acrylics for the trees. I am really pleased with how this came out! It was exactly what I imagined!

BPS plates 35

The above image links to the product’s information.

Thoughts:

I am a huge fan of this plate. I had no issues. The polish swiped away easily, the image transferred crisply to the stamper and then to the nail. I have not had any other trouble with the round plates I’ve tried from BPS. I only wish the animals were just a little smaller. As you can see the images barely fit on my nails!

I definitely prefer these over the larger rectangular plates. Regardless of the minor issues I had with the rectangular plates, I prefer singular images over full-nail patterns. When it comes to pricing, though, you get more bang for your buck in buying the rectangular plates but you won’t find these cute one-off images on them.

Don’t forget to check out the Born Pretty Store nail art page for a whole host of different goodies. Stamping plates are just a small part of what they have to offer!

Well, sort of…We only got about 5 inches of snow but the roads were not cleared until the afternoon so I guess it did warrant a snow day!

I’m am super bummed though. I have to make up today’s class by tacking on an extra 30 minutes to the next two…and these lesson plans really only work for an hour, and don’t hold the attention of a typical 5 year old for loner than that. Ugh.

Oh well, what can you do?

I hope you like my snow day manicure!

Waterspotting and Stamping Snow Day | The Rite of AgingI started with 2 coats of Julie G Butterflies & Rosebuds as my base.

I water-spotted with hairspray, Color Club Pucci-licious and Sally Hansen Hunger Flames.

I stamped with butter London Cotton Buds and MoYou London plate Festive – 02.

I woke up this morning and knowing the nail art I would do tonight. I had this vision swimming around in my head of a glitter-y beautifully blended pink lemonade-esque gradient.

I don’t know what I dreamt about last night but I am glad it ended in a nail art idea!

I hope you like it!

DSCF3708_fotorI started with 2 coats of Zoya Pippa as my base.

I created the gradient with a makeup sponge, Pippa and Barry M Gelly Grapefruit.

I stamped with Born Pretty Store plate BP – L004 and Milani Black Swift.

Gradient and Stamping Nail Art for NAIL (Feb 2015): Hearts

Check the sidebar for more information.

During the Valentine’s Day mania I saw stamped hearts over red and pink, I saw watermarble heart decals in red and pink and white and finally I saw free-drawn hearts in red and pink and…yup, you guessed it, white!

I have a ton of heart stamps especially from the Pueen Cosmetics Love Elements collection but I hit a major creative block with this prompt. I felt nothing towards the traditional color schemes but didn’t know how to proceed otherwise. Finally, I decided on a darker, fiery gradient with some well, okay, white stamping on top.

Speaking of stamping and Valentine’s Day, I am seriously falling out of love with Seche Vite top coat. It smears ALL my nail art and it’s getting really irritating. Seriously, what’s going on? I wait a generous amount of time for the polish to dry. I don’t press down to hard on the brush when applying it. Some of these techniques, like gradients, take so long to begin with I am never in the mood to re-do one or two or more nails!

Anywho! I hope you like my heart nails!

Please excuse my nail shape, my fingers and just overall photo. I don’t know what’s up but my fingers look insanely thin with gargantuan nails attached to the tips. I shaped my nails yesterday and they looked great. My flare is almost gone and maybe I filed my nails to fit that swelling? I tried to position my hand to make everything look better but something still looks off 😦 And, on top of everything else, because of the flare my hands were so shaky I literally only got 2 non-blurry shots! Yikes!

DSCF3685_fotorI started with 1 coat of Barry M Gelly Mustard as my base.

I used a makeup sponge Milani Mauve Medley, American Apparel Neon Red and Barry M Gelly Mustard for the gradient.

I stamped with Pueen Cosmetics plate PUEEN41 and Konad Special Polish White.

Watermarble and Stamping for Challenge Your Nail Art

I wanted to come back to the love letters prompt for this month’s Challenge Your Nail Art. While I do not do the gushy, romantic stuff of film and book I wanted to use the Pueen stamping plates I would not generally use at any other time of year!

I have to be honest, though, I do not like white nail polish. Not because of the consistency (which, okay, I have a problem with) but the color is so stark my camera does not photograph my skin tone well and the polish always muddies the others in the marble. It is a very annoying color.

Anyways, I hope you like my Love Letters nail art!

Watermarble and Stamping Valentine's Day Nail Art | The Rite of Aging

I started with Sinful Colors Snow Me White as my base.

I marbled with Barry M Grapefruit, Rhossili and Sinful Colors Snow Me White.

I stamped with Barry M Matte Rhossili and Pueen Cosmetics plate PUEEN 43 from the Love Elements collection.

Hi, my name is Monica and I have RA.

Check out the other love letters below!
