I really wanted to participate in the recent A2Z prompts because they were really interesting; but we have long passed the W is for Wild prompt so I am playing a little catch up.

I wanted to do something simple so I tried marblized stamping and I’m really pleased with how this came out. I thought I would need more practice but I only had to re-do my nails once!

I hope you like it!

Metallic Marble Stamping | The Rite of AgingI started with 2 coats of Pahlish La Royale as my base.

I used Essie No Place Like Chrome, Zoya Goldie and Born Pretty Store stamping plate BP-19.

Hi, my name is Monica and I have RA.

Assorted Nail Art Techniques for Hemangiosarcoma Awareness

I debated whether to include this manicure in Saachi’s tribute post but then decided to keep it separate. The tribute itself is already very long and this way I can create multiple manicures. This also fufills the U is Unusual prompt for the A to Z  Series.

What is Hemangiosarcoma? It is blood vessel cancer that presents in dogs and cats. It is not rare but it is aggressive. It is arguably the most aggressive cancer found in animals. Typically, it first appears in the spleen or liver then metastasizes to the lungs, heart, and brain (anywhere, really, that circulates blood).

Doxorubicin has the most research and highest success rate out of all the chemotherapies. It does not stop the spread of the disease but slows it down. Unfortunately, that’s where the research ends. There are a couple of other chemo options but there is not a lot of successful research backing it. When we found out the Doxorubicin did not work, we stopped all chemotherapy. The cancer was so advanced, in our gut, we knew nothing would work. Maybe it would extend Saachi’s life for a couple of weeks…if that…and pumping her body full of toxins for an extra two weeks did not scream a great quality of life.

Cancer is basically an autoimmune. Cells constantly multiply and sometimes they mutate. These damaged cells suck resources from the healthy ones. They form from each dog’s genetics, they differ from dog to dog. Saachi’s cancer did not respond to Doxorubicin. We don’t know why. In animals, there is still no way to study the genetic markers and pinpoint which are resilient to which medications…

The manicure I created includes blood splatters, a subtle red dotticure, and stamped DNA strands. I hope you like it!

Hemangiosarcoma Awareness Nail Art | The Rite of Aging

Hemangiosarcoma Awareness Nail Art | The Rite of AgingI used Wet n Wild Black Creme and Color Club On the Rocks as my base.

I detailed with Sephora by OPI Mr. Right Now, Sinful Colors Secret Admirer and Barry M Chili.

I stamped with MoYou London plate 03 from the Scholar Collection.

Sugarspun Nail Art for the A2Z Series: T is for Textured

I’ve participated here and there in the A2Z challenge. When I do not get to the prompt on Thursday, I think ‘I will get to it by the weekend!’ then the weekend rolls away so does the rest of the week and we’re on to the next prompt!

Of course I had to do a sugar-spin nail art for the textured prompt. We all know my not so quiet disdain for textured polishes but I love me some sugar-spin! I was feeling a purple and teal combo and really love the final look!

I hope you do too!

Purple & Teal Sugar-Spun #nailart | The Rite of AgingI started with 2 coats of Color Club Mrs. Robinson and Barry M Plum as my bases.

I sugar-spun with Sally Hansen Miracle Gel Hunger Flames, Cancun and Zoya Haven. A lot of people wait for the nail polish to dry on the surface before they dip the toothpick in. I personally like to mix the polish and it dries to maintain the right consistency!

Stamping and Glitter Nail Art for A2Z Series: Q is for Quirky

I am on a glitter kick. When I decided to re-visit my glitters I loved them all (I guess there was a reason I bought them to begin with! – There was speculation I only purchased them because how they looked in the bottle!)

For the quirky prompt I decided to mix a textured polish with bright glitter, neon polish and stamping. Why not go whole hog? This would be the perfect time to do so!

During the “buy 3, recieve 3 mystery polishes” Zoya promotion I bought my first PixieDust! I’m not the biggest fan of these type of textured polishes but this one was so intriguing I had to have it! I heard a rumor that Zoya was discontinuing the PixieDust collection so I wanted to get hold of it before it was gone for good. I mean, to be a good nail art blogger, I had to, right? Hehehe!

I hope you like it!

Stamping and Glitter Nail Art | The Rite of AgingI started with American Apparel Neon Green as my base.

I applied a generous coat of Serum No. 5 Happy Special Day! One of my favorite polishes of all time, I am really sad I haven’t used it in so long!

I stamped with a Pueen Cosmetics plate from the Love Elements collection and Milani Black Swift.

I used Zoya PixieDust Imogen for the accent.

Water-Marble and Sugar-Spun Manicure for A2Z Series: M is for Multi-Color

For this week’s prompt, I had these images of rainbow neons floating through my head but realized the keyword was “multi-color” not “rainbow”. I felt like doing a predominantly pink manicure and a sugar-spin…and this is what I came up with. As I used neon pinks for the sugar-spin this look also works for this week’s NAIL prompt!

I hope you like it!

A2Z Series: M is for Multi-color | The Rite of Aging

I started with 1 coat of Zoya Charlotte as my base.

I water-marbled with Zoya Charlotte, Barry M Gellys Chili, Chai and American Apparel Neon Violet.

I sugar-spun with Color Club Warhol and Pucci-licious.

Saran-Wrap Manicure for A2Z Nails: K is for Kitchen Sink

I am all about chaos on my nails. How many times have you seen one of my manicures and thought…Monica definitely didn’t need to add that or this would look better with out this…Well, I certainly have. However, the kitchen sink idea just made me nervous! There is a method to my madness, whether I am using the same color scheme or technique.

Kitchen Sink prompts as many colors, techniques, embellishments, and designs as I can possibly fit on my little nails. CONFUSION!!!

Unfortunately, my wrists decided to leave me hanging again so I opted for some fun, simple RA-friendly saran-wrapped (read: bubble-wrap) and color foiled nails.

At first, I did not really like my final result but it grew on me. It is definitely not soemthing I would normally choose but it kind of sort of works, right? Maybe if I got rid of my pinky?

What do you think? Is this a miss?

Kitchen Sink Brights | The Rite of AgingI used (from index to pinky) China Glaze In the Limelight, American Apparel Parakeet, Girly Bits Supersonic, and American Apparel Neon Yellow as my bases.

I sponged Nfu-Oh Opals Nfu-51 on my index and pinky finger before applying color foils (from Born Pretty Store).

For the middle finger, I bubble-wrapped with Pahlish La Royale and American Apparel Neon Violet.

On the ring fingre, I bubbled wrapped with Color Club Warhol and applied a sheer coat of Zoya Maria Luisa.

When the index and pinky nails dried I sponged a little Neon Yellow to blend out the colors.

Hi, my name is Monica and I have RA.

I was so thrilled with this week’s prompt! I received a new nail mail package from Llarowe with some fun Pahlish colors which so happened to all be in jewel tones and given my current flare I decided to go with my splatter #rafriendlynailart! I wanted to add a little ruby into the mix but thankfully realized the look would become too cluttered.

I hope you like it!

J is for Jewel | The Rite of AgingI started with 2 coats of Zoya Goldie as my base.

I splattered directly from the bottle with a straw, Pahlish Le Bijou de Roi and La Royale.
