Sugarspun Strawberry Nail Art

Yay YouTube! I was inspired by another tutorial, this time by cutepolish!

I know chocolate-drizzled strawberry nails are not new but cutepolish’s video was my most recent inspiration! And how the heck could I say no to a sugar-spin, right???

I’m kind of in a funk right now so I think I will be finding inspiration from others for a while.

I hope you like it! I definitely love the sugar-spin! Hehe…do I ever not love sugar-spin?

Chocolate Drizzle #sugarspin Strawberry #nailart | The Rite of Aging

I started with Wet n Wild Red a Good Book.

I detailed the strawberries with yellow acrylic paint, light and dark green acrylics and sealed it with Seche Vite.

I mixed Milani Spotlight White and Barry M Lychee to create my “white chocolate drizzle”.

Neon Watercolor Dotticure and Stamping Nail Art

I’ve been dying to try out this technique after I saw this recent video on Tartofraises Nail Art’s Youtube Channel! I not only love the look because it is neon but also because it is neon over black! In the past it took me forever and multiple layers for neons to show up over black. This is a great alternative for those bright colors to really pop!

I loved how the final look came out. It was super fun and easy and I will definitely try it again with a different design!

Neon Sheer Watercoloring | The Rite of AgingI started with 2 coats of Wet n Wild Black Creme as my base.

I stamped with Konad Special Polish White and Pueen Cosmetics plate PUEEN44.

I used a toothpick and Milani Spotlight White.

I used polish thinner, a fluffy artist’s brush, American Apparel Neon Red, Color Club Wham! Pow!, Warhol and China Glaze Sun Worshiper to color in the white design.

Sugarspun Nail Art for the A2Z Series: T is for Textured

I’ve participated here and there in the A2Z challenge. When I do not get to the prompt on Thursday, I think ‘I will get to it by the weekend!’ then the weekend rolls away so does the rest of the week and we’re on to the next prompt!

Of course I had to do a sugar-spin nail art for the textured prompt. We all know my not so quiet disdain for textured polishes but I love me some sugar-spin! I was feeling a purple and teal combo and really love the final look!

I hope you do too!

Purple & Teal Sugar-Spun #nailart | The Rite of AgingI started with 2 coats of Color Club Mrs. Robinson and Barry M Plum as my bases.

I sugar-spun with Sally Hansen Miracle Gel Hunger FlamesCancun and Zoya Haven. A lot of people wait for the nail polish to dry on the surface before they dip the toothpick in. I personally like to mix the polish and it dries to maintain the right consistency!

St. Patrick’s Day Dotticure Nail Art

I did a dotticure for Valentine’s Day so I made one for St. Patrick’s Day. I am still on my green kick so I classified the nail arts under this holiday!

Anyways, due to stress and fatigue I am beyond tired. I considered not painting my nails but I needed a pick-me-up and nail art perks me up. However, I am sort of flared up so I fell back on RA-friendly non-uniform dots.

The picture is different as the usual lights are on the fritz. I pulled out my dusty light box and tried it out again. I now know how to set my camera more properly so I’m hoping I can get the hang of it. What do you think? Good picture or not? I have a lot of trouble focusing the details in the light box but I think that is due to insufficient lighting. However, my skin always looks so smooth! I guess there is a trade-off!

I hope you like today’s nail art!

St. Patrick's Day Dotticure #nailart | The RIte of AgingI started with 2 coats of Sephora by OPI It’s Totally Karma as my base.

I “nimbus-ed” with Zoya Giovanna and Pahlish Sunless Sea. I sealed the design with Seche Vite to create a semi-3D effect.

I dotted with Cult Nails Deal with It and Color Club Twiggie.

Glitter Nail Art for NAIL – Gold

I am slowly catching up with the linkups I participate in! I missed out on the gold prompt from a couple of weeks ago but since I had a few gold polishes I neglect otherwise I wanted to jump in, even if my submission was really, really late!

I feel bad for my textured polishes. I only ever use them for challenge prompts. I love other 3D nail art (cough, sugar-spun, cough) but I can’t handle good old textured polishes. I guess there is something about the type of texture? Maybe it is too gritty.

I could go on and on about my quirks but let’s get on with the nail art! I like how this came out: simple, fast and RA-friendly…Perfect during this time of stress and fatigue!

But what about you…Do you have any of these eccentricities? Do you like ketchup but not tomatoes? Comment below!

Gold Glitter Nail Art | The Rite of AgingI used Julie G Gift of Gold as a base on my middle and ring finger. I used to coats of Barry M Mustard on the index and pinky finger.

I used a makeup sponge and KBShimmer Sand in My Stocking on the tips.

Sponging Nail Art for St. Patrick’s Day

With St. Patrick’s Day recently past I am still in a very green mood. Eh, let’s face it, I don’t need a holiday to justify green manicures, though!

I wanted to give the dotted sponge technique a go. After I saw Ali’s (over at Fixin’ to Faff) primary color sponging I fell in love (Take a look at her wonderful post here)! I just had to choose the opportune nail art window!

I love how this came out. I alternated between sponging one, two, or all three colors to achieve this look. I have to say, I dig this technique a whole lot better than the traditional sponge eyeshadow applicator one. It is definitely a lot more RA-friendly, that’s for sure!

I hope you like it!

St. Patrick's Day Sponging Nail Art | The Rite of AgingI started with a base of Pahlish Sunless Sea.

I sponged with a makeup sponge, Pahlish Sunless Sea, La Royale and Zoya Goldie. Apart from the fantastic colors and formulas, Pahlish polishes are extremely easy to clean up off the skin!

Watermarble Nail Art for NAIL – St. Patrick’s Day

Due to some personal stuff going on I didn’t have the time nor was I in the mood to paint my nails. But, I knew no matter how long I went without painting my nails I had to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day. Green is my favorite nail polish color after all!!

It has been a while since I participated in the NAIL linkup. I wanted to but wasn’t feeling particularly inspired (I think mostly due to stress) so I am glad I was able to sneak one in before the month’s end!

But, as you guys remember neons spook my camera. I am completely thrilled that I was able to capture it even if my skin tone took a beating in the photo. I hope you forgive me!

St. Patrick's Neon Watermarble | The Rite of Aging

I started with a thin coat of American Apparel Neon Green as my base.

I marbled with Barry M Matte Cancun and American Apparel Neon Green.
