This blog is first and foremost a nail art blog so who would I be if I didn’t add a few nail art looks to Blogging A to Z??

I don’t know how I will add them; whether they may go by brand, or technique, color or polish name but I’ll upload looks as I feel inspired.

Today I combined the abstract water-spotting technique with blue colors to satisfy the first two prompts of the challenge. As per usual, this look is very RA-friendly! I hope you like it!

Water-spotting: Sally Hansen Blue My Mind, Zoya Severine

Next week I will take part in the Challenge Your Nail Art “12 Days of Christmas” extravaganza so I will not post any more autumnal looks. I realized I had done the typical fall colors and leaves nail art but I had completely ignored green! There are still remnants of green leaves and the grass remains vibrant so I decided to do a simple stamping and glitter look…with a video tutorial!

I hope you like it!

Christmas Needle Drag | Nail Art

I always wanted to try the marble drag technique because it looked abstract and RA-friendly but never got around to it. I used the Formula X Infinite Ombre kit because the green, red sheer tints blended so well together and really popped over the silver base. And, of course, no nail art is complete without snowflakes so I added them for good measure!

I did not have very good luck with a toothpick because I pressed to hard and brought up the base color so I used the tip of a paintbrush. I ended up with a Picasso swirl but I still got the gist of the needle drag.

I hope you like it!

When the Formula X first landed at Sephora I scurried over to my nearest store. On first look, I was completely gutted about the price tag. It was nearly twice as much as the old Sephora by OPI line. No thanks…For a seemingly unfamiliar brand, my guess is most people would not be interested in purchasing these new polishes.

Of course, I had gone all this way just for this polish range (yeah, I kept telling myself that) so I had to purchase one! Two years later, I am glad I did. Bombshell, a black and orange hex glitter topper, was discontinued soon after it’s release. It’s still one of the most unique glitters I’ve seen to date. I only use it during October for obvious reasons and it never disappoints.

I hope you enjoy today’s simple glitter gradient!

A Purple and Green RA-friendly Waterfall

It has been one of those weeks. I was unmotivated, lethargic, but extremely restless. Half the time, I tried one of the many nail ideas flitting through my head but none of them looked right; the other half I just couldn’t bring myself to even try. Do you ever have those days? Weeks? Months, maybe? I wouldn’t call it depression, I thought it was more of a flare. My eyes were more dry than usual, the skin on my lips flaked off and I was uncharacteristically fatigued (even though my joint pain was minimal).

Regardless, I sat down and pushed through this strange phase and went with a quick, RA-friendly waterfall look. I had no particular feelings for this nail art (ah, motivation) but I did like how it came out. I hope you do too!

Playing catch up with some of the prompts today! Thankfully, I already had an idea of what I wanted to do but was just too fatigued to execute them! Here is my very RA-friendly kitty nail art!

Disclaimer: There will not be a whole lot of writing in the next few posts. I am trying to catch up and my fingers are still super swollen!

OMD3 – Watermelon Gradient Nails

Well hello everyone!! I was really scared about today’s prompt! I have never attempted watermelon nails so the first idea that came to mind was to freehand them. Nothing new here but I chickened out!

I was so unsure about today’s nails I took to Instagram and searched hashtag “watermelon nails”. I ran across a matte gradient by IG@b_jessica_3 and knew immediately I had to re-create that look. I decided not to matte the final result or add seeds. I wanted to, but in the end decided to leave well enough alone. It might have looked alright but I think given how soft, blurred and pastel the colors are stark harsh dark seeds would look really odd!

In real life the pink is a lot more prominent but unfortunately, we know my track record with photographing whites. I tweaked my hand position a little to capture the pink a little more but it still came out a bit wonky…

Hope you like it!
