Many moons ago I did a Galapagos-inspired look for the FIFA World Cup challenge (linked here)! I was trying out my new light box and the photos were horrendous! I was completely bummed as the actual nail art came out really nicely! I always wanted to re-try it for better pictures…except, I didn’t realize how DIFFICULT this look was to photograph! I think there was just too much going on with all the different colors and stamping, etc. I tried my best and still  have to say I love what I came up with.

I hope you do too!

Some products provided for review. Opinions are my own.

I just had to do galaxy nails for today’s prompt because it’s been a while since I last did them! And, I have to admit, I’ve never been as happy to be an Aquarius as I was today. It is probably one of the easiest signs to freehand! Of course, mine left quite a bit to be desired but the rest of the look came out awesome…in my opinion, heh!

Today was also the perfect time to try out these star studs I received from Born Pretty Store. If I was going to try 3D studs they had to be in my favorite star shapes. Luckily, they were available in the 2mm size which were small enough for my tiny little nail stubs! I wouldn’t name these particularly RA-friendly as I had to use tweezers to turn them right side up but after that they applied without further hassle. They fell off the nail more easily than the Fimo canes. The bottom is slightly hollowed out so if I apply these with normal top coat application there is less surface area to adhere to the nail. However, they did hold up to light normal finger movement. If I remember to remove them properly the pieces are definitely re-usable. Though, I imagine I will lose quite a few too as I knocked a few out of the tin without realizing it!

I don’t think I have done an asymmetrical dotticure for the challenge! Seriously, Monica?? Well, I rectified the situation and loved the final result.

My birthstone is Amethyst and I couldn’t be more thrilled! I love purple. And, interestingly, it’s the only non-gold, silver jewelry I wear. I don’t think it has anything to do with it being my birthstone but I just like it the best! If I ever get married I don’t want diamonds on the rings. I want amethysts!

I didn’t want to use silver again but the purple just didn’t look right against any other metallic colors! That’s okay, though, it’s a totally different nail art!

From the not so RA-friendly to the super RA-friendly, I bring you a simple glitter gradient!

I really love this glitter topper. It always reminds me of circus big tops!

Fun fact: I am terrified of the circus and any included parts. I don’t have any particular reasons, they are completely irrational with no basis at all!

I was a little skeptical to put this glitter against the same silver base from a couple of days ago but it just didn’t pop against any other color! I hope you don’t mind!!

Let me start by saying how glad I am I got some of these prompts out of the way! I forgot to take my medications after lunch and am paying the price now. I couldn’t even use a fork, let alone paint my nails!

I did a few looks last week so I forgot which belonged to each day. It was not until today that I realized I had two glitter gradients back to back! Oops! It’s okay, though, I can never have enough glitter gradients (unless, of course, I am going through my ‘I hate glitter’ phase)!

At first, I had glitter gradient accent nails and dark blue stamping but the look did not mesh together well. I asked my dad before I took pictures and he agreed it so I nixed the dark blue. Sometimes, simpler is definitely better!

Eek!! I am so excited about this year’s Oh Mon Dieu! This awesome challenge is brought to us by the lovely ladies who also organize the monthly Nail Art Ideas Linkup. Jacqui (from Craftynail), Lindsay (from Nail that Accent!), Jemma (from Eeeek! Nail Polish!) and Brijit (from Brijit’s Digits) work so hard to bring together nail enthusiasts from all over the world. The NAIL linkup was the first community I joined when I first started blogging two years ago and I have participated ever since.

I participated in my first OMD challenge last July and it pushed me to my limits! Not only did I post once a day but I attempted at least three or four techniques I never thought I would touch with a ten foot pole!

These girls have a knack of bringing out the real creative side of the nail junkies without imposing a ton of rules but still providing guidelines so we are not completely lost!

The first prompt is teal! Okay, first, let me say, I could not find any of my teal polishes! The one I wanted to use was an old Milani polish I finally parted with. It was such a beautiful polish. I am slowly but surely moving through my old Milanis and I feel absolutely gutted every time I use them. I knew our relationship would not last forever but I certainly wish it did!

I am starting out nice and easy and RA-friendly with a cute, neon glitter gradient and some simple stamping! Hope you like it!

Basic Stamping Nail Art

I just have simple stamping as I am just playing around with my new Creative Stamper. The learning curve on this stamper is extremely big! Granted, I love hard, smaller  stampers and never had luck with squishy stampers like this one.

When I do get the stamping right, though, it is easier to pick up the image and so simple to get on the nail. I used to roll the Konad stamper over my nail. I had to wait for the base polish to COMPLETELY and UTTERLY dry or it would smear and sometimes I messed up the position of the image.

But, UGH! It is taking me so long to get used to the squishy stamper! I want to grab my trusty Konad stamper but then I say “No! You will get used to the new type! Remember when you first started stamping??”

Truth.
