I wanted to do something similar to my molecular nail art from last week but this hand tremor keeps getting in the way.

I still wanted to stamp so I went with a smaller scale image. Though, I still got a few smudges so my apologies!!

This nail art reminds me of Christmas. The flowers look like poinsettias and the colors are very holiday-inspired! I definitely was not going for that but the colors worked nicely together.

ImageI used 1 coat of butter London Tea with the Queen and 1 coat of butter London Hen Party as my base. Am I loving this combination! Separately I cannot stand the colors against my skin tone but together it is the perfect neutral mannequin hands color!

I stamped with Konad Special Polish Red and Violet Pearl? and MoYou London plate 09 (Suki Collection).

I dotted with Zoya Giovanna.

Celebrate the Occasion Nail Art Challenge Day 3: Graduation

The best part of graduation? The parties that come afterwards!

Unfortunately, my hand tremor came back so precise detail work went right out the window. I saw quite a few variations on the “waterfall” manicure and I wanted to give it a try. So, instead of the waterfall I went with a streamer-fall?

Hope you enjoy!

ImageI used 1 coat of Color Club Wham! Pow! and 3 coats of Sinful Colors All About You as my base.

The polishes I detailed with:

  • Color Club  Almost Famous, Mrs. Robinson
  • Essie No Place Like Chrome
  • Milani Peacock

Tools I used:

  • Two dotting tools
  • Small detailing brush

Galaxies are one of my favorite nail arts! They are abstract and I get to mess around with sponging, dotting and colors until I am happy! You can imagine my excitement over this week’s Theme Buffet prompt! (Facebook group linked here.)

I hope you enjoy my blue-ish, purple-y, shimmer galaxy!

I used 2 coats of Milani Black Swift, 1 coat of butter London The Black Knight, and 2 generous coats of Milani Sprinkles as my base.

  • Julie G White Orchid
  • Urban Outfitters Blue Velvet
  • Color Club Pucci-licious
  • Zoya Crystal

The Crumpet’s SIMPLES Challenge: Week One – The Non-Pattern Accent Nail

Debbie from The Crumpet is hosting another Nail Art challenge. But instead of a challenge it is a learning game! Every week she will post the prompt and we try our best at each one! As we progress through the challenge, we will see others’ interpretations on the prompt, share tips and tricks, and sort through difficulties.

When I read about the SIMPLES challenge (her blog post linked here) I knew I would take part! I am new to the nail art universe and I am always down to learn new tricks and support other nail polish enthusiasts!

The Facebook group is linked here. The set up is a little different for this group. There are no Inlinkz and the group is solely for SIMPLES manicures.

I hope you enjoy mine! I decided to pull out a rather unloved neon orange polish from the depths of my stash. It saw the light for a few minutes then returned to the back of the shelf.

ImageI used 2 coats Color Club Wham! Pow! as my base. I keep this in my collection because I have no other neon oranges but I do not like it. The formula is tacky, not thick or gloopy, just, tacky. So, it is not ideal for water marbling or nail art. Poor unloved nail polish. I’d love any recommendations on good neon orange polishes so I can put this poor Color Club out of its misery and retire it!

I layered Serum No. 5 Fallen on my pinky until I liked the result.

Apologies on the slightly blurry picture. Neons seem to be the mortal enemies of my camera!!

NAIL May Theme Two: Clouds

Nail Art Ideas Linkup second May theme is clouds! A theme I am very familiar with this week! We were hit with a week-long thunderstorm with a very arbitrary rain schedule and nasty humidity. But, funnily enough, just as I came up with a manicure idea the clouds parted and the sun shone through. I decided to inject a little color into a previously “stormy” manicure.

I incorporated the Nimbus technique, freehand and stamping.

Initially, I wanted large clouds but the only stamps I had were for thin, long ones. I worked quickly to smear them with Seche Vite top coat. It worked! I kept the shape of the clouds but smeared/extended the bottoms. I especially like how the ring finger came out!

ImageI used 2 coats of butter London Cotton Buds as my base.

I used the Nimbus technique with Zoya Reece, American Apparel Parakeet, Color Club Pucci-licious, and Urban Outfitters Blue Velvet.

I freehanded with Essie No Place Like Chrome.

I stamped with Konad Special Polish Black and MoYou London plate 06 (Mother Nature Collection).

marbling, Milani, Nail Art, Sephora by OPI, Tri Polish Challenge, Zoya

I actually wore this manicure over the weekend but I really wanted to share it as part of the TPC. The marbling came out really nicely!! Lately, I have been wearing my manicures for a while (shocking, I know!!) I love how the last one came out (check it out here) and I cannot bring myself to take it off quite yet!

Anyways, on to the nail art for this week’s Tri-Polish Challenge (Facebook group linked here).

I added the red glitter the following day because I was too tired to stay up any later for another layer of polish to dry! Unfortunately, working at a rock-climbing gym takes its tolls on the tips – apologies on the slight wear.

A picture of the elusive thumb!

I used 2 coats of Sephora by OPI “I Come in Peas” as my base.

I marbled with Sephora by OPI I Come in Peas, Zoya Giovanna, and Milani Black Cherry.

I used a sheer coat of Sephora by OPI Jewelry Topcoat Be-Claus I Said So.

Nail Art: On a Molecular Level

Quick Note: I will be posting a pretty requested blog entry on my experiences with insurance companies and speciality pharmacies later this week. Many people have been asking me for months and I’m sorry it’s taken so long for me to get to it but I have been having a lot of issues with the pharmacies and frustrations ran high!

On to the nail art!

I decided to do some science-inspired nails because I am teaching one of my science classes tomorrow.

I am kind of loving how this came out. I am slowly but surely getting the hand of stamping! Hopefully with a little more practice I can go pro! 😉

ImageI used 3 coats of American Apparel Parakeet as my base.

I detailed the stripes and dots with Zoya Yara, Color Club Mrs. Robinson, and Essie Naughty Nautical.

I sealed it with Seche Vite before stamping with Konad Special Polish in Black and MoYou London plate 03 (Scholar collection).
