Color Club, Essie, freehand, Nail Art, Sephora by OPI, Zoya

The wonderful Brijit went out of her way to make a tutorial for me for the Dragonfly Wings manicure that I absolutely loved.

Since I do not own acrylics I decided to try with plain polishes. I did not get the desired effect and I will definitely re-try with acrylics.

I am not all that pleased with the outcome (as wings) but it still looks interesting. It almost looks like my nails are bleeding? So I guess it works out for Halloween. HAH!

Image

For the index, middle, and pinky finger I used 2 coats of Sephora by OPI “Cover Me in Petals”. The dots, Essie “No Place Like Chrome” and Color Club “Almost Famous”, were done with a dotting tool.

I realized afterwards that fire-flies had the lights…not dragonflies….and I’m a Zoology major >__<

For the wings, I started with a base coat and a generous coat of the Sephora by OPI Jewelry Top Coat “Come to Pappa-razzi!”. I added a generous coat of Seche Vite to protect the bottom layers from the nail polish remover.

I tinted my nails with Zoya “Reece”. I think the next time I will not tint them as much. I could not tell with the lighting but I thought it was a lot more sheer.

I used Sephora by OPI “Mr. Right Now” for the veins. I added Reece between the veins.

Nail Art: When in Doubt, Add Glitter

marbling, Milani, Sally Hansen, Sephora by OPI, Urban Outfitters

I decided to paint my nails at 10pm last night??

I could not bring myself to do anything too labor intensive and on top of everything else, I managed to knick the polish on three nails!

I salvaged the manicure with glitter!

Image

I never thought blues looked good on me but I love Sephora by OPI “Go My Own Way”. It is the perfect navy blue!I used three thin coats.

For the marble, I used 2 coats Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear “White On” for the base. I interchanged Sephora by OPI “Ms. Can’t Be Wrong”, “Mr. Right Now”, Urban Outfitters “Blue Velvet” and Milani “Peacock” before dunking my ring finger haphazardly into the water. Minus the colors, I am getting an Union Jack vibe?

I am very very picky about my glitter top coats. It’s right there in the name! Top coat! I should not need another one on top of it! Sephora by OPI jewelry top coats are totally amazing. They do not dry totally smooth but the glitters are dense and dry flat! I do not experience a lot of chipping. The glitters are high-shine, even if the base is not. I prefer this since the focus is the glitter!

I used Sephora by OPI “Lights, Glammer-a, Action!” over the blues and “Come to Pappa-razzi!” on the accents.

Affie, Born Pretty Store, INM, marbling, Nail Art, Sally Hansen, Sephora by OPI, water decals, Zoya

I managed to take a rather awful picture of Affie this morning but it captured a very silly expression. I am usually very good at reading animal’s expressions but  I have NO idea what she was trying to tell me.

While I was painting my nails this evening I realized they reminded me of my loveable goofy Affable. Sponging, and water decals are very arthritis friendly but I decided to push my restraints a little bit and did water marble accents! I hope you like it!

ImageBases: (2 coats): Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear White On (ring+thumb), Zoya Cheryl

Marble: Orly “Bonder”, Sephora by OPI “Mr. Right Now”, “Mrs. Can’t Be Wrong”, “Cover Me in Petals”, and “Cab Fare”

Sponging: Zoya “Cheryl”, Essie “No Place Like Chrome”, China Glaze “Fuchsia”, Color Club “Mrs. Robinson”, Urban Decay “Smog”, and Sephora by OPI “Cab Fare”

Middle Finger: I used two separate water decals from the Born Pretty Store. They were two different designs from the Christmas collection. I finally figured out how to use these properly! After I soak the entire paper in water I need to remove the decal from the backing. Hah…well, practice makes perfect! I had no problems with keeping the decals flat on my nail.

Nail Art: Number Crunchers

Bundle Monster, Milani, Nail Art, Sephora by OPI, stamping

I recently got a job as an after-school enrichment program teacher. For one of the classes, I work with K-2nd graders and play a ton of math games!

In honor of the class, I decided to do a Number Crunchers-inspired mani! I really like this so I will probably play around with different color combinations and styles.

I love the subtlety of the double gradient!

Apologies on the massive swelling in my fingers this morning! I think shorter nails accentuate it…

Image

For the gradient I used Milani “Mint Chip” and Sephora by OPI “I Come in Peas”.

For the stamping I used Milani “Mint Chip” and “Quick Teal” and Bundle Monsters plate “BM 311”.

To see the accompanying post, click on the images below.

I decided to mirror my frustrations about the invisibility of this disease with a dark water marble and my angry little demon stamp. (Which in reality is the cutest thing ever!)

Image

Apologies on the quality of the photos. It was difficult to capture the marble. I kept trying to mess with the pictures and this was the best I came up with.

Image

The bases I used were Milani “Black Swift” and Nails Inc. “London Town”.

I used Milani “Dark Coffee” and Bundle Monsters plate “BM 305” for the stamping.

I marbled with Orly “Bonder”, Sephora by OPI “Mr. Right Now”, “Go My Own Way” and “Cover Me in Petals”, and Milani “Dark Coffee”.

My pets make the most noise during the night. For nocturnal beings, they have the worst eye-sight and tend to bump into everything! They are such weirdos. They drown out all other noises!

I used Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear “White On”, Sephora by OPI “Go My Own Way” and “Cab Fare“ as my bases for this manicure.

I really like how Essie “No Place Like Chrome” stamps. It’s really opaque. I have to let it dry a little on the stamping plate though because it is awfully slippery. I also used Milani “Dark Coffee” for stamping. I used Bundle Monsters plate “BM 316” and “BM 323”.

For the marble I used Sephora by OPI “Go My Own Way”, Urban Outfitters “Blue Velvet”, and Essie “No Place Like Chrome”.

Nail Art: It Ain’t Easy Feeling Green

Cult Nails, freehand, marbling, Milani, Nail Art, Sephora by OPI, Wet n Wild

To see the accompanying post click on pictures below.

Given how I have been feeling I am surprised I went with a bright green. I guess when I feel low I still opt for bright colors! That is a good sign.

I initially wanted to do the water-color technique on the middle and pinky finger but I ended up keeping them clean.

DSCF4817_fotor

I am on the fence about the index finger. I like the color scheme but it does not really match the water marble. I love love love how the marble came out though.

Base:  Sephora by OPI “It’s Totally Karma”

Marbling: Sephora by OPI “I Come in Peas” and Wet n Wild “Black Creme”

  • I started with a marble with both colors then I marbled again with “I Come in Peas”

Dotting: Milani “Peacock”, Cult Nails “Deal with It”, and Sephora by OPI “I Come in Peas”
