Even Regular Pharmacies Have their Downsides

I am beyond annoyed. Maybe my pharmacy has been this way for years. Maybe I just noticed how INCOMPETENT they are since I started frequenting them twice a week. Wow!

I have had trouble with their customer service for months now.

Well, it is not like they are not nice or cordial. They are just dumb as rocks.

You would think they would have more people on register during peak hours (after work, before dinner time, lunch time, morning rush) but no, they only have two. People do not have one hour to wait in line for medications. I have walked away multiple times.

Now, waiting in line is not the biggest deal in the world.

This is my TRUE issue.

Not getting my medications.

A couple of months ago I re-newed my prescription for Ambien. I called it in, I was told it would be ready by 9:00 pm, I stopped by after work.

“Oh, I’m sorry, we called to let you know we did not have it in stock and would not have it in stock until tomorrow afternoon.”

I had received a call – from an unknown number, who did not leave a voice message. Was that what they referred to?

I was in the throws of insomnia, I needed my medication. I asked them to call it in to another pharmacy.

“Well, all the pharmacies are closed right now, you would need to call it in tomorrow yourself.”

Excuse me? You did not let me know you did not have this medication, you are not the only 24-hour pharmacy. It is your responsibility to call it in somewhere else if you cannot fill it at your facility.

“Okay, we will call it in tomorrow.”

Guess who did not?

Fast forward two months later — I call in my methotrexate prescription. I need this injection once a week to function, to walk, to move.

I receive a call the following day (the day I take the injection) informing me the medication was backordered and they did not know when it would be available.

The proper good customer service thing to do is call it into a different pharmacy. However, apparently it makes sense to sit back and twiddle their thumbs until the medication becomes available.

Maybe I am crazy for needing my medications. Maybe these people do not realize medications are actually important and people are not just on them for sh*ts and giggles.

I called them.  “Are you going to call it into a different pharmacy?”

“Well, we usually do not carry this medication so we are not sure when we will have it. You can call it into a different pharmacy but they probably won’t have it either.”

FYI: I have been on this medication for 3 YEARS and never had trouble before.

“I will call it into a different CVS then”

“Well, you probably won’t get it, but I will take it out of our queue”

Guess what? I had NO trouble getting it from another pharmacy.

And, when I went to this other pharmacy, I did not wait in line, they answered my questions, they were quick, friendly AND cordial. AMAZING.

And then, yesterday, I picked up two more prescriptions at a generally non-busy time, and I waited in line for 45 minutes. I overheard people in line talking about how difficult it was to fill their prescriptions, how long they made them wait to get them filled.

At this pharmacy, they guarantee prescriptions in 30 minutes if you wait for them in-store. Most of these people waited over an hour.

Now, there is a discrepancy between the staff here. Sometimes, when people sit and wait for their medications they get to cut the line and get them as the staff prepares the prescriptions. Okay, that sort of makes sense but it is really annoying when people are waiting in line for AN HOUR.

What really gets me is when I am there waiting for my prescriptions, they make me and everyone else waiting go to the end of the line and wait in line. SERIOUSLY? Get your policies straight!

I have had it. After decades of using this pharmacy I switched, and I am so happy I did.

Oh, did I mention? Six months ago the pharmacy started passing out customer service surveys. What does that tell you?

I have been having trouble with this month’s color trio. I tried water-marbling but the colors looked weird together so I tried a dry-marble instead. I ended up really liking the result.

I hope you do to!

I was one of those kids who dislike cakes and cupcakes, just for the sheer fact they felt weird in my mouth. I always opted for ice cream cakes instead. I love ice cream!! Love it!!

Anyways!

I do love L-O-V-E looking at cupcakes. They are a really cute shape! There are so many varieties and flavors, in cake and frosting and even sprinkles. There are neverending possibilities!

If I am asked to choose one type of cupcake it would be the funfetti ones. There are so many pretty colors! My manicure was inspired by these colorful creations!

I hope you like it! (This was a difficult one to photograph, I think there were too many details and my camera did not know what to focus on!)

I started with 2 coats of Julie G White Orchid as my base.

I dotted with Color Club Mrs. RobinsonMilani PeacockSephora by OPI I Come In Peas and Deborah Lippman Popular (Wicked Collection).

Before the dots dried, I “saran-wrapped” with Julie G White Orchid and Sinful Colors Chick Chick.

I stamped with Konad Special Polish in Black and Bundle Monster plate BM 307.

I used the following polishes (from pinky to index finger) for the sugar-spun frosting:

Bundle Monster Turns 5! Nail Art Challenge Day 8: Party Hat

On any girl’s birthday she is the princess for the day! Even if she, like me, did not particularly like princesses. Everyone says hello and wishes her a Happy Birthday. Everyone is nice to her, even just for the day.

What goes with being a princess? Tiaras!

Okay, so I never liked tiaras or princesses but I never liked those paper party hats either. It was not so much the pointy cone part but the annoying rubber band that I had to put over my face. It was uncomfortable and the hat would not stay on otherwise!

I hope you like my manicure for today’s Bundle Monster prompt!

ImageI used 2 coats Revlon Parfumerie China Flower and 1 coat Sephora by OPI Mr. Right Now as my base.

I stamped with Bundle Monster plate BM 304 and Essie No Place Like Chrome.

This is one of my favorite techniques! I love it but always feel guilty when I use the cling wrap just for my nails! I feel like I use so much of it for such a small canvas. I know I am weird!

I hope you like my creation!

Best News Ever – Essie Fill the Gap

Okay, not exactly but I am more than thrilled right now!

When I first started on my nail adventures I bought Essie Fill the Gap on a whim. The description “it helps re-create smoothness, crucial to youthful looking nails…visibly sculpts and plumbs nail base…stronger feeling and hydrated nails…helps prevent brittleness and breakage” mimicked butter London Nail Foundation on a more modest budget.

I love Nail Foundation, do not get me wrong, but it gets thick and gummy around the halfway mark which for the price is a ridiculous waste of money.

I tried the Essie alternative. Did I fall in love?

I think yes!

The formula is gorgeous. GORGEOUS! It has thick coverage with a thin consistency and makes my nail beds look perfect. The main purpose of this base coat is as a ridge filler but it also provides wonderful adherence for any future polishes.

I always wear toe nail polish but when I want to give my toes a break, I wear this as my “naked” nails and it makes my feet look taken care of without being completely disrobed.

The best part? While I may not notice any long term effects, in the short term my nails break less frequently and are in general better health.

I loved this product through two full bottles. Probably the only nail product I have ever fully finished.

Then.

ULTA stopped carrying it.

I went to the internet and was no longer available on the Essie website. Was it being discontinued? My relationship with Fill the Gap ended suddenly and without proper goodbyes.

Until today.

I was at my local CVS. I was milling around the beauty section looking at all the 50% off stickers when I happened upon the smaller Essie display near the back. What did I see? FILL THE GAP. You better believe I grabbed a bottle.

I am ecstatic since I gave my toenails a break yesterday. I removed my polish and noticed chips in the nail bed. I have never seen this before. Not on the tips, on the nail beds themselves.

I better give these guys a break before true sandal season comes around!

How about you? Have you tried Essie Fill the Gap? Do you love it? Do you hate it? Anything in between? Is there something better? I would love recommendations because I am afraid I may not have this product for long!

Bundle Monster Turns 5! Nail Art Challenge Day 6: Macaroons

Today’s prompt is macaroons! Weird things, macaroons. They are bright, funny colors and look like mini hamburgers. They never quite made sense to me!

I was kind of at a loss for what to do with this manicure so I just chose to use the colors I usually macaroons in and stamp that sort of resembled them.

I am still working on my stamping skills but I hope through this month I will just get better and better at it!

I stamped with Essie No Place Like Chrome and Bundle Monster plate BM 322.
