Oh Mon Dieu Challenge – Day 2: Coral

Color Club, Cult Nails, Essie, Oh Mon Dieu challenge, OPI, Sally Hansen, Sephora by OPI

What is coral exactly? Is it a pinky-orange, an orangey-pink, a blush tangerine or just a neon red-orange? Yet, regardless of the name it most certainly is not the color of coral!

I see a huge surge in matte nail art and I cannot help but jump on board! Matte all the things!

I hope you like it!

DSCF9972_fotorI used 3 coats of Sephora by OPI Cover Me in Petals as my base.

I used Cult Nails Captivated on all fingers except ring.

I detailed with Sally Hansen Blue My Mind, Color Club Almost Famous, Milani Colorful Coral, and OPI Pros & Bronze.

I sealed everything with Seche Vite before adding a generous coat of Essie Matte About You.

Hi, my name is Monica and I have RA.

Weeee! Another monthly challenge! I really love these because I am never at a loss for nail art ideas!

The Oh Mon Dieu challenge is hosted by Jacqui over at Craftynail, Brijit from Brijit’s Digits, Jemma from Eeeek! Nail Polish! and Lindsay from Nail That Accent!. Every day features a different prompt with free range on nail art. With each manicure you also receive an entry towards some awesome prizes!!

I hope you like my mint-colored manicure today! (I also have a request: could you let me know how the picture quality/color is? I am having a huge problem with my eyes and the color shifts right in front of them – not great for editing photos!) This particular photo does not seem right..

I decided to stamp some pills today, I’ve had to increase my prednisone dose because of my spine which means more pills!

ImageI used 3 coats of Color Club Twiggie as my base.

I stamped with MoYou London plate 03 (from the Scholar collection) and Konad Special Polish in Black.

I detailed with Deborah Lippmann Mermaid’s Dream and Essie Naughty Nautical.

I used a generous coat of Seche Vite top coat and experienced some streaking. I am a little annoyed at this since I took such special care in stamping!

Hi, my name is Monica and I have RA.

Check out the other awesome mint manis!

The Crumpet’s SIMPLES Challenge – Week Five: The Basic Dotticure

This is my first real dotticure! I guess what I mean is my first real attempt at evenly-spaced equally-sized dots. You know what? I do not like it. Truth be told, I am not a polka-dot kind of girl.

In the spirit of the SIMPLES challenge, a learning adventure on different nail art techniques, I decided not to re-do this for perfection. I wanted to! I really had to force myself to turn the other cheek.

I guess I just do not like the look of “true” dotticures. If you follow my blog you know I much prefer the abstract random dots to evenly-spaced order.

I hope you like it, though. I used colors inspired by my only polka-dot sweater which is a teal-green with navy spots.

Since I still do not have the energy to do more than one manicure (barely!) this also serves as the base for the Bundle Monster challenge.

I am so tired and my spine is aching. I hate when my spine acts up because the pain affects everything. My posts are going to be a little skewed for a while and probably will not adhere to the normal schedule. I am probably just going to post the monthly challenges and if possible the weekly challenges as well.

It took me three hours to gear up for this one manicure, I kept laying down and closing my eyes. Ugh!

I am no longer afraid of gradients! I am practicing them so I am thrilled this is was the prompt for this week. I hope you like it!

ImageI started with two coats of Color Club Pucci-licious as my base.

I used a makeup sponge to apply a gradient (from cuticle to tip): Color Club Pucci-licious, Essie Smokin’ Hot, and Color Club Mrs. Robinson.

I dotted with the same colors in the opposite direction.

Take a look at the rest of manicures this week!

Since I am not feeling all that great I decided to use this as the base for my Bundle Monster birthday challenge as well. Today’s prompt is Love. I have a stamp that says “Love” but I decided to use the puzzle-heart shape.

I love the colors I used for the gradients and I love puzzles!

Apologies on the glue on my fingers. I used it to protect my skin from the excess polish but apparently did not do a good job of removing it!

DSCF9887_fotorI stamped with Konad Special Polish White and Bundle Monster plate BM 321.

Bundle Monster, Bundle Monster Turns 5 challenge, butter London, Essie, Konad, Milani, Nail Art, stamping

I love sparkly things. I am kind of like a puppy, in that respect. It is funny, though, I own quite a few glitter polishes but I very rarely wear them. As a friend says, I really just like looking at them.

I hope you like my sparkly manicure for today’s Bundle Monster prompt!

ImageI used 1 coat of Milani Swift Black and 1 coat of butter London The Black Knight as my base. I used 2 coats of Essie On a Silver Platter as the accent.

I stamped with Bundle Monster plate BM 311, Konad Special Polish Gold and Milani Black Swift (not bad if you work fast!)

FingerFood’s Themed Weeks: Cartoon Nails

Color Club, Essie, freehand, Konad, Milani, MoYou London, Nail Art, Pop Beauty, saran wrap, SIMPLES, stamping, Wet n Wild

This manicure serves THREE purposes!! I am absolutely thrilled I managed this. I am submitting it under the weekly theme buffet but it also serves as the second SIMPLES saran wrap manicure.

These nails also serve as a tribute to Casey Kasem, who passed away yesterday at the age of 82. If you have followed my blog for a while you will know I am a huge Scooby Doo fan. It was and will always remain my favorite cartoon. I own the entire original series on DVD and LOVE it.

Casey Kasem voiced Shaggy for over two decades. Not only that, he was a humanitarian who supported many different charities. The world has lost a truly remarkable person.

During the Nail-Art-A-Go-Go challenge in February, hosted by Missy at Gnarly Gnails, one of the prompts was animation (my design linked here). It was my first attempt at the cartoon nails technique and it came out less than to be desired. I wanted to re-visit it for this week’s Theme Buffet. While my nails are just as short as the last time, I think the addition of detailing makes the look less “stumpy”. I still need to practice getting even cartoon lines but I did not want to mess too much with it to the point I would have to re-do the entire nail!

I hope you like it!

Bundle Monster Turns 5! Nail Art Challenge Day 13: Flowers

Bundle Monster, Bundle Monster Turns 5 challenge, Essie, freehand, marbling, Milani, Nail Art, Sephora by OPI, Sinful Colors, stamping, Zoya

The first thing that came to mind was a groovy flower theme. However, I’ve done this a couple of times before (nail art here and here) so I wanted to go with something different. I remember a really cool galaxy/gemstone-esque nail art I did back in December (linked here) that I always wanted to revisit.

I decided to try something similar with different colors and a flower stamp! I hope you like it! It definitely does not have the same effect as the original but I think it came out looking pretty good anyways!

I hope you like it too!

ImageI used 1 coat of butter London Cotton Buds as my base.

I water-colored with:

  • Zoya Suvi, Giovanna
  • Sephora by OPI Cab Fare
  • Sinful Colors All About You

I water-marbled with:

  • Milani Quick Teal
  • Sephora by OPI Caffeine Fix

I stamped with Bundle Monster plate BM 311 and Essie No Place Like Chrome.

What do you think? Is the teal a little too much? I considered using Zoya Yara instead but did not think it would show up. I wanted to use a creme color because the base was sparkly. Did this look work?? Should I have added INM Northern Lights on top to make everything sparkly?
