I haven’t done a dry-brush look in a long time but the metallic flowers were sitting in the back of my brain since I last did silver ones with a purple gradient. I’ve got to say I really like how this came out. Completely different looks but somehow they work together well.

I had to re-do this because just as I started to take pictures I bumped by nails against the camera and my peelies base coat completely popped off! UNT Peel Off Base Coat does what it says! I thought about just photographing the peelies but my nails are so short the small remains look really weird!

I hope you like it!

OMD3 – Peach Glitter Gradient & Stamping Nail Art

For today’s peach prompt I pulled out my trusted Westside. This was the first Urban Outfitters polish I bought and it is almost completely gone. I bought a Rimmel dupe but the formula cannot even pretend to match up. Westside (and UO’s Blue Velvet) are my most used polishes of all time!

Urban Outfitters cream polishes are surprisingly awesome and for $4 a pop they are easy to stock up on. I haven’t been to the store in a while but I think I’ll stop by soon since I am about to completely run out of my favorite colors!

Peach polish is one of my favorites but I only really wear it during the spring and summer because look how tan my hand is! As much as I love this color, though, it is a bear to photograph. I managed a great picture of the glitter gradient but couldn’t focus properly on the stamping. Ah well, you win some, you lose some.

RA-Friendly Sponged Gradient and Flakie Nail Art

Did You Know?

It was first believed exercise would exacerbate and quicken the progression of Rheumatoid Arthritis. Now, it is proven light exercise helps protects the joints and keeps the muscles from atrophying.

I am not going to lie. The most annoying comment I hear, from doctors to friends, is “exercise!”. It really is not as simple as that. I know exercise lessens my symptoms (I feel more limber and alert), however, sometimes activity worsens them. If you’ve followed my blog for a while, you may remember blog posts here and there about my grievances about climbing and RA. It is such a fine line for me. I have to be very careful. I rarely climb for more than a couple of hours, I do not push myself and the minute I feel a “twinge” I stop. If I’ve done grocery shopping or done any housework I do not climb; even with a lengthy nap in between activities, it is way too much for me to handle.

But…now onto the nail art! I like using an eyeshadow sponge tip applicator with similar colors. It is more RA-friendly than using a makeup sponge and the uneven lines are masked better.

Why, oh why do I not use this flakie more??? This gorgeous topper was actually at the back of my cabinet! I managed o get my hands on it before the shade was discontinued. (Hah, maybe that’s why! Do you ever feel guilty using polishes you know you can no longer get? I especially feel that way about the old Milani polishes!) However, I do really like how this look came out. It reminds me of those fun thermal bath toys that would change from pink to purple when placed in warm water!

I hope you like it! (I completely forgot to take a sunlight picture so I had to settle for my usual indoor lighting)

Purple-Pink Sponge Gradient | The Rite of AgingI started with China Glaze Violet Vibes and Barry M Plum as my base.

I used generous coats of Nfu Oh Nfu 51 on the accent nails and sponged it on the tips of my index and pinky nails.

I stamped with Mundo de Unas Neon Pink and Pueen Cosmetics plate PUEEN 85. I usually stamp my right hand first then move to my dominant left. As I worked with MdU formula more it became more opaque. I am still learning this specialty polish but I like the gradient effect!

I am going to be 100% honest with you. I am going to flip flop the rest of this month. I am so behind on every nail art challenge it makes little sense to catch up. I am bummed about this because I mapped out all my manicures in my new “Cat Naps” planner. My entire plan flew out the window due to this seven-day flare!

Initially, I did not plan on participating in the Winnie the Pooh challenge. I wish I did not have to because I L-O-V-E Winnie the Pooh. My dogs even wear Winnie the Pooh collars! But, I couldn’t think of any non-freehand art designs I could do so I figured it would be best for my arthritic self-esteem! But, I received a few stamping plates in the mail and it sparked an idea for both the 31DC2015 and Challenge Your Nail Art group.

I love leaves. The way they change color in the fall, the way the holes age after bugs eat through them any other time of year is just amazing.

However, there is one specific memory I will always hold dear. The first day I stepped onto the Colorado State University campus…

Colorado State University was my #1 choice junior and senior year of high school. However, my school did not allow us to apply to any university without visiting first. This ended up in my favor as I only applied to one school. Anyways, my father and I eagerly flew out to Colorado and drove into Ram Country. There is only one weekend where the leaves turn color before they fall off the trees. Seriously, this color change only lasts a couple of days. We were so lucky we visited that one weekend. These gorgeous leaves cast a spell on the entire campus. Each tree was full of life and I knew I had found my home for the next four years!

Every year after, I looked forward to that one weekend. I spent as much time as possible exploring campus, just to breathe in this gorgeous scene.

I know it sounds ludicrous in some ways but I always felt completely at peace.

And now that I’ve gushed on and on…

I hope you like my manicure!!

Stamping Fall Leaves | The Rite of AgingI started with 2 coats of Barry M Gelly Chili as my base.

I used a makeup sponge, Chili and Sephora by OPI Mr. Right Now for the gradient.

I stamped with Mundo de Unas Copper, Barry M Gelly Mustard and multiple images from Born Pretty Store plate BP-19.

Nail Art: Halloween Brights Stamping

Guess what? I am finally getting the hang of full nail stamping! Now that I am getting a proper technique down I can try double designs! Maybe…Unfortunately, the bright orange in this manicure looks like part of the sponged base.

The Mundo de Unas stamping polishes have recently taken the spotlight on nail art blogs. I bought a few because I was impressed with how they stamped over dark opaque colors and the polishes definitely do not disappoint! However, given my current skills I really have to practice with these beauties. The strong pigmentation combined with my heavy hand results in smearing and slipping. This is totally due to my user error, though. These polishes are great, even if they smell a little overwhelming. This being said I am really proud of myself because I did not smear the design today!! Unfortunately, I could not see it very well so I added black on top.

On a different note, my Konad Stamping polish smears with top coat application. This never used to happen and it only occurs with the black polish. Is it getting thicker with time? I wait at least 20-30 minutes for it to dry but it still smears!

Now that I have ranted and raved…I hope you like it!

halloween brightsI started with Sally Hansen Insta-Dri Petal Pusher as my base. I am not usually a fan of baby pinks against my skin but this is one of the few I wear on it’s own!

I sponged with a foam eyeshadow applicator, Milani Foxy Lady, CoverGirl Glosstinis Flamed Out, Zoya Goldie and Barry M GNP 8/Grapefruit.

I stamped with Mundo de Unas 28/Neon Orange, Konad Special Polish Black and Pueen Cosmetics plate PUEEN-79 (from the Leisure collection)

A to Z Series: C is for Copycat/NAIL: Geometrics

A to Z series, Konad, Mundo de Unas, Nail Art, Nail Art Ideas Linkup, Pahlish, Pueen, stamping, water decals

Check the sidebar for more information on both challenges.

I recently joined another nail art community on Facebook and love the idea. It is called the A to Z weekly blog. Every week, Charlie from Pocket Money Polishes provides a prompt corresponding with a letter. The interpretation is very open so I can take it any direction I want.

However, since I am still figuring out my blogging schedule I decided to combine challenges. This nail art also serves for this week’s NAIL prompt. Symmetry is a huge part of geometry! I am not much into shapes so I am glad I could stretch the prompt without using them!

I hope you like it!

c is for copycatI started with 3 coats of Pahlish as my base.

I stamped the paw print with Konad Special Polish Black and Mundo de Unas plate LO06.

I used an assortment of decals from the Pueen water decals collection WD2 I bought from Amazon.com.

Hi, my name is Monica and I have RA.

Check out the other copycat nails below!

Bundle Monster 30 Days of Screams – Day 20: Black & Orange

Check the sidebar for more information!

What goes better with a two color palette than sugar-spun? Hehehe. I also had a neon orange Mundo de Unas stamping polish that was supposed to work well over black! I am a little bummed the two oranges did not match up. I was also surprised how sheer the stamping polish came out. It worked well over other colors, I guess I should give it a break since it is difficult to show up over black.

I hope you like my manicure!

Bundle Monster 30 Days of Screams - Black & Orange | The Rite of Aging

I used 2 coats of Wet n Wild Black Creme as my base. I really love this black. The consistency is awesome, the polish itself is cheap. I am thrilled I found it in the back of my stash!

I sugar-spun with my trusty Color Club Wham! Pow! and I stamped with Mundo de Unas Neon Orange (28).
