Oof, don’t even get me started on why I am late to the challenge. On December 2nd, I did a very cute snowflakes look which I then proceeded to nick two hours after finishing it and before taking photos. I was so annoyed I didn’t do them again. My bad mood persisted and I fell completely behind.

Unfortunately, my mood didn’t pick up after seeing this design. I like the idea of it but I am not sure about the execution. I created a jelly-ish pigment with top coat and a drop of light blue polish. In theory, I wanted a pond snow-globe feel but in reality, it makes my hands look cold! Regardless, I hope you like it!

OMD3 – Watercolor and Freehand Nail Art

Check the sidebar for information links to this challenge.

I was actually on top of the fish prompt but I attempted the look twice and both  looked horrendous. I was already very tired that evening so I lost all motivation to continue.

I had so many cute stamps I wanted to use and every time I stamped (yes, I mean every FINGER) the image looked different and warped. I just couldn’t do it. I shrugged and said ‘I’ll try them again on the weekend’. Well, the weekend is here and I thought, “obviously I cannot stamp so I might as well do something else”. These freehand fishes aren’t super intricate but I think they are kind of cute!

Hope you like it!

Actemra Infusion Dry Brush Nail Art | May 2015

Anise, China Glaze, dry brush, Emily de Molly, Glitter Gal, Nail Art, rafriendlynailart

For this month’s infusion nail art I went with a RA-friendly blue dry brush! It is similar to  last month’s look except less busy (linked here). I was so tired towards the tail end of this dosing cycle I wanted something quick and simple.

The dry brush technique does not require any extra tools, very little dexterity and even though it is a default during flares I rarely feature it on the blog! Hopefully that will change.

During one of my many nights of tossing and turning, I contemplated starting RA-friendly tutorials…If you follow me on Instagram you might see my hashtag #rafriendlynailart. I mark techniques like dry-brush, water decals, and uneven dotticures under this category but realize just seeing one picture makes it difficult to re-create it. These would not be as beneficial to more able-bodied nail artists but geared towards Spoonies and other Auto-Immune sufferers who want to make their nails look pretty!

What do you think about this tutorial idea? Love it or leave it?

Icy Blue Watermarble Nail Art

I have been so lucky the last couple of weeks. It has not rained except at night and while some evenings were frigidly cold, Saachi moved quickly in the elimination department so it didn’t really affect me. Yesterday night it iced and everything froze overnight…but no snow…I like snow…

After yesterday’s watermarble success I sustained my marble high and decided to try the technique again! It came out differently but I am pleased with it. The polishes spread really sheer and looked similar in the water. I honestly just threw caution to the wind when making my designs, heh!

I hope you like it!

Icy Blue Watermarble | The Rite of AgingI started with a messy, sheer coat of Milani Power Periwinkle.

I marbled with Milani Power Periwinkle, Barry M Gelly Chai, and Emily de Molly Candy Coated. These all spread really well together!!

I stamped with butter London Cotton Buds and MoYou London plate 02 from the Festive Collection.

Water-Spotting Nail Art: Sky Blue Royal Purple

I have not painted my nails in almost a week! What is this? I just have not been in the mood really. What with Saachi’s recovery, my own flare and not being in the right mindset. I considered muddling through and forcing myself to paint my nails but I didn’t want my hobby to become a chore! What nail artist wants that??

Today I have an easy-going water-spotted nail art! It only took 30 minutes to complete it! On top of that, I was constantly amazed how quickly and easily this Emily de Molly polish cleaned up with acetone (even with the glitter pieces)!

I hope you like it!

Blue and Purple Splatter Nail ArtI started with 3 coats of Emily de Molly Candy Coated. I managed to get my hands on this polish during a Llarowe sale! I am not going to even lie: I always scroll through the sales page. I managed to get a Picture Polish lacquer once!!…Which is neither here nor there in this post but I thought I’d share anyways! 🙂

I “water-spotted” with hairspray, Revlon Parfumerie Fresh Linen and Zoya Haven. I had this image in my mind of the final result. I should have used an opaque white instead of Fresh Linen because the sheerness makes the base look thin in some spots. I promise that is not Candy Coated but Fresh Linen.

I protected the design with Seche Vite before applying a nice coat of INM Northern Lights Silver. Speaking of which, are they no longer selling the Gold counterpart? I use it for certain color combinations and recently ran out but can’t find it anywhere!

Sponged Nail Art: Butterflies and Scarves

When I sponge, I always like how pink and blue mix the best. It does not matter which shades I use or which brands; just the colors in general! Maybe because the mix is not as jarring? Who knows…

Anyways, it was not until I flipped through my decals that I remembered my favorite butterfly scarf greatly resembled my current nails!

You’ve seen a similar manicure for the “fashion-inspired” prompt of the OMD 2 challenge back in July.

OMD2 - Day 28: Fashion-Inspired

OMD2 – Day 28: Fashion-Inspired

I rather like this more recent nail art better. It looks cleaner; it is fun to see how my ability evolves!

Sponged Butterfly Decals | The Rite of AgingI started with 2 coats of Color Club Warhol as my base.

I detailed with a sponge-tip applicator, Dance Legend 373, Barry M Matte Rhossili, Emily de Molly Candy Coated and Milani Power Periwinkle.

I used buttefly Pueen Cosmetics water decals on select “accent” nails.

31DC2015 – Day 5: Dotting Tools

Check the sidebar for more information.

I made this on Sunday because I planned on rock-climbing Monday night after work. Of course, I forgot to post it until today. Whoops. I think it still counts I stayed on track! Just forgot about the whole blog thing, is all!

I go through phases with dotting. Sometimes, it is all I want to do, other times, I could not care less about it. Unfortunately, I am going through the latter. Although, I figured this was the best time to use those textured polishes collecting dust on my shelf.

What do you think? Does this look work? I am kind of luke-warm to it.

Textured Dotting | The Rite of AgingI started with 3 coats of Emily de Molly Candy Coated. This polish applies like a dream. It self-levels, great opacity. Awesome polish.

I dotted with Julie G Gumdrops Gift of Gold, Sally Hansen Sugar Shimmer Taffy Tart, and Essie On a Silver Platter.

Hi, my name is Monica and I have RA.

Don’t forget to check out the other manicures below!
